I think you could make an argument for keeping him for another season, allowing him a failure this year. I certainly wish we'd done that with Benitez so, while the circumstances aren't the same, the principle still applies. It's hard to know whether internal stuff ("losing the dressing room" etc.) is (a) true and (b) important.

Equally though I can see the rationale for getting rid of him. It's a fine judgment really, and depends on how much better or more effective you think his replacement will be.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

There is a lot of parallels between the way the press has treated Rafa and Mancini.

Both foreigners. Both in charge of the biggest rivals to Ferguson's team.

Or maybe there are other reasons. Any ideas?

        No, me neither.

Agreed, this is where I'm uncomfortable in supporting Mancini's sacking. I've no doubt the vast majority of non LFC fans thought Rafa deserved the sack too - whereas in my opinion most of them didn't have a clue, didn't pay anywhere near close enough attention to know what was going on and just swallowed the Sky/Keys/Gray/media line.

Most City fans are devastated about Mancini and I get why - he won them the league and his spell in charge has been the best 3-4 years in their history, so of course they adore him. The way the press have set about him has definitely reminded me of the way they treated Rafa - the likes of Shreeves and others question him with an aggression and persistence they wouldn't dream of doing with Ferguson and it makes me sick. But ultimately I still feel he deserves the bullet.

I think it's pretty disgraceful that press have been briefed about Mancini's sacking before he has. Outrageous behaviour.
            Oh I don't know.

The leaks re Pellegrini have come from Spain. Nothing from City apparently.

So why was just about every media outlet saying that Mancii would be gone before the final game of the season? That's come from Spain?
                Oh I don't know.

City haven't come out and denied it. They would have been well served doing that before the game on Saturday especially. Piss poor really. Pretty sure it's been leaked by people within the club aswell

Dunno about that stuff reported yesterday, but I know the pre-Cup final stuff about Pellegrini getting the job came from Spain. City have apparently completely shut up shop and not said anything to anyone - which is arguably more damaging.

Mancini a goner. Could go before Reading game. Story on Telegraph website.
These all appeared at roughly the same, and all are pretty certain of the outcome. I just can't see the source coming from Spain on this.
                      Oh I don't know.

Yeah that was the stuff that came out yesterday. Not on about that. I meant the initial stories about Pellegrini that started all this. Since then everyone has known Mancini is a goner.

On Friday night I was tempted to try and put a double of Wigan winning and Mancini being gone by the beginning of next season. Would have gotten around 11/12-1 I think. ****ing kicking myself now.

Only didnt do it because it wasnt on the first site I looked at. Idiot.

I think it's a good idea from City's point of view to get rid of Mancini and Pellegrini is the perfect man for them but the way this has been done is pretty cuntish to be fair.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to - yesterday's stories, which all are pretty specific about the timescale of his departure - i.e. this week, before the season as been concluded.

It might just be that Vicky woman getting her revenge on him.
