'Bottled it' maybe the wrong word, but we threw it away/crumbled when it mattered/ran out of luck/let the pressure get to us, either way, it was our fault and no one elses, is more what i'm saying, rather than it being down to City.Originally posted by ChesterDave View PostWe won't 11 on the bounce. All we had to do was win more consecutive games in a single season than any team has managed. Bottling cunts those Liverpool players. Don't talk ****e.
Either way, the point stands.

True, but I do believe it is a mistake to announce this mid season. Knowing the boss is off is bound to effect performance.Originally posted by EwarWoo View PostNah, they were looking borderline shaky before any announcement. And there really is no shame losing to Leicester atm. Strange as it sounds. Not that it will stop me taking the piss.
You're back thenOriginally posted by Fredo View PostWhy? They're in all competitions still and have everything to play for.
They do, true enough. But I personally feel the management announcement is a mistake. We shall see.

Guardiola is an absolute legend but he faces a huge rebuilding job at man city. That squad is one that has reached the end of a cycle.
He was very fortunate at Bayern where he inherited two excellent fullbacks, a young neuer, two brilliant wingers - genuine world class players. He rebuilt the spine - centre backs, midfield and added Lewandowski.
He hasn't got any of that at city bar a worldie striker and a decent keeper. The fullbacks at city aren't at the level of alaba and lahm, their wide players are nowhere near ribery and robben. Their centre backs are awful, and their midfield just doesn't work.
He has a massive job there because they have bought some really **** players for big money recently. Bar aguero, hart, de bruyne and maybe sterling they haven't got any proper talent in that team. He has to rebuild the defence, midfield and perhaps some of the attack.
Its a huge task.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

It's not that big a rebuild a few players yes but it's not as if he's coming into a side in disarray. A few good purchases in the Summer will improve them massively.
The front 4 is decent - Aguero, Silva, Sterling & De Bruyne. Midfield a change of shape or/and a replacement for Yaya who's surely gone. Defence needs some work but even that is vastly improved with a fit Kompany.
He's also going to get a lot of cash to do his thing.

Might be easier said then done, there does seem to be a real lack of quality at centre back these days. Striker too. As Wenger said about strikers, all the elite ones are in contract at the best clubs.
They've spent obscene money on centre backs and are still reliant on crocked Kompany. It's like us with Sturridge.

1) Money will be no object for City and they may even break the world transfer record.
2) This will be the first real test of Pep - they can't buy a full team straight away so let's see how gets on working with players that are not the worlds best.

This mob must rival or beat us for ineptitude in the transfer market! Only difference is they've managed to keep Aguero and Silva and we lost Suarez and co. They must have spent half a bill or close to in the last 4 years and yet they are still completely reliant on players signed in 2011 or earlier.

I think the thing is that a lot of those players are very good but there are no players like Alonso, Busquets, Iniesta or Xavi or remarkable fullbacks (at Barcelona Alves was key and in a totally different way - almost like playing like CMs - they have at Bayern too) in the City squad. He will either have to adapt and evolve his approach or buy excellently to create a Pep team for next season. It'll be very interesting to see what happens no matter what I suspect.Originally posted by RichC View PostIt's not that big a rebuild a few players yes but it's not as if he's coming into a side in disarray.
