That's quite impressive, looks like the game has finally take off.

It’s an odd move tbh - I think Ramsdale is very overrated and too emotional/erratic to be a top keeper…… similar to Pickford in that respect. Raya is probably at the same level so you’ll have two average keepers rather than looking for a proper upgrade.Originally posted by Phoenix07 View Post

I find it odd that Raya would go there. Ramsdale seems to be reasonably rated by them, so he isn't going there as a nailed on starter, at best they can share the No 1 role, but reality is one will end up pushing the other out sooner or later after an extended spell on the bench for one or other. They are both a similar age so it's not as if one is a long term option as a replacement for the other and both cost about £30m, I don't see much point in having 2 £30m keepers you are better having one top quality one.Originally posted by Irishnev View PostIt’s an odd move tbh - I think Ramsdale is very overrated and too emotional/erratic to be a top keeper…… similar to Pickford in that respect. Brad Friedel was on tv the other night talking about the goalkeepers in the game he rates and also the sports analytics firm he is an adviser for, and he was saying that Raya is one of the best in the league when it comes to saves vs shots, coming for/claiming crosses and also one of the best for positioning.
Not Alisson level but comfortably, in Friedel's opinion, on the tier below Alisson.
He was saying that as a keeper within the PL with the potential to excel at a better club that Raya would be his clear pick by some distance. He compared Raya a lot to Maignan at Milan in terms of technique and goal keeping style.
My guess as to the best of the rest in the PL would have been Martinez at Villa tbh but Fiedel had Raya as being a much more rounded keeper that would suit a team looking for a sweeper keeper that is also a high level shot stopper.
Just found it interesting to hear what another keeper had to say about current keepers in the league from a watching them POV and also from a stat perspective.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Some praise because if Ali ever left it would be Maignon I’d go forOriginally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostBrad Friedel was on tv the other night talking about the goalkeepers in the game he rates and also the sports analytics firm he is an adviser for, and he was saying that Raya is one of the best in the league when it comes to saves vs shots, coming for/claiming crosses and also one of the best for positioning.

Yeah Maignon is an absolute wall of a goalkeeper. Position's himself so well and on the odd occasion he is out of position he has crazy good reflexes to fall back upon.
Not the best with the ball at his feet but then I have gotten used to Alisson's levels so almost every other keeper will suffer by comparison.
Friedel was on a few other shows during the week too and on Sky he mentioned how badly treated he was by David James and used it as an example of how trying to have two number Ones at a club usually means you end up with no number one as both guys are in limbo.
Seems James basically acted aggressively all the time to him, treated him like dirt and undermined him every chance he got in order to stop Friedel getting a crack at a starting place. Friedel being made very much the outsider.
He went on to say that David James did acknowledge his behaviour after he retired and did give an apology.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Everyone is on the Tier behind Alisson
