They've lodged a bid now for Yohan Cabaye according to SSN. About the only position they don't need reinforcing for me!

They could do with a ball winning midfielder they haven't replaced Song in that postition, not sure Cabaye fits that mould mind you.

Was just chatting to a gooner in work and he reckons that with fringe and youth players they have let 17 go over the summer making that squad look very thin.

Williams and Michu would be delightful

michu is a decent player but £20m plus i wouldn't be too pleased and both singings would look a bit desperate to me

and even funnier, should they fail to land either their club would implode

in my eyes it's lose/lose with those two

sign them both and their fans will complain for wasting money/not enough quality
sign neither and they'll kick off for missing out on targets.

interesting tho that Arsenal, United and us all seem to be struggling to land 'big' names - chelsea have only made on big signing (schurlle) tho i'd say they had a pretty strong squad to begin with and probably only want Rooney to stick two fingers up at United

Only City thanks to their billions seem capable of adding top players

oh and everyone's favourite second team Spurs but they are in danger of losing their best player
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Cabaye is decent enough but I can't see Newcastle letting him go on the cheap. £15m+

I have been thinking this too. It's particularly puzzling given that the stratospheric TV deal is now here.

I suppose that you could blame the change in management at a few of the big teams for the lack of transfer activity, and in Arsenal's case, you could probably blame it on the lack of change in management I suppose.
            Oh I don't know.

He's a dirty "over the top" tackling ****bag. He should have been sent of several times last seasion for these challenges

i know a lot of us have been frustrated with our lack to land someone big, and when mixed in with the suarez affair it's been a tough summer

but when I try and put a positive look on it - it's actually not too bad now the season has got under way

we have added 4 (5 if cissokho comes off) players that will contribute this season - two looking like good first team additions (Kolo/Mignolet) and the other two (3 with cissokho) should prove good additions to strengthen the squad overall.

With coutinho and sturridge both improving and being here from the off and now it looks like suarez is staying it's not been too bad at all - then add the youngsters comning into the squad, Wisdom/Ibe/Sterling all pushing for 1st team spots which is very encouraging as well

they may not admit it, but if things stay the same i bet United and Arsenal would have prefered and equivalent summer to us rather than their own.

all depends on how the next couple of weeks pan out - would be great if we added the marquee 'feel good' signing we want and then both united and arsenal failed with theirs

If Suarez stays, then it’s been a pretty good summer, regardless of who else we sign. In him, Coutinho and Sturridge we have arguably the best attacking trio in the league and if we add another quality wide player and drop Coutinho back, then that could be frightening. We are normally pretty solid at the back too, so we have every reason to be optimistic this year.

We had a disappointing league finish last year, but since the January signings we were a much better team and all we lacked was some consistency. Despite it being a poor campaign we still scored more and conceded less than Spurs, so that’s something to take encouragement from.

If we manage 3 points against Villa, then I really do expect us to kick on and have a great season. We’d then go into the United match in great form.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

The greed of these players has me thinking the taxman has a part to play also.
