I'm not sure you can solely blame greed, but yes, the UK tax regime has changed, for the worst if you earn masses of money, and it is certainly less attractive for high earners than working in a lot of European countries right now.
    Oh I don't know.

Everyone knows Arsenal are desperate now, they're going to struggle to get anyone for the price that they are worth.

        cheeky 10m bid for cabaye

removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I'd have thought Newcastle would want something like 15-20 million for Cabaye at this point in the transfer window, if they use the Carroll barometer they'll ask for something closer to 45 million.
          * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I thought one of the rich French clubs were offering close to £20m earlier in the summer for him?

PSG have been heavily linked with him over the summer.

Surely not France. Their top rate is 75%. Maybe it doesn't apply to foreign nationals, I dunno.

On the surface the German tax regime looks pretty similar to the UK's but of course it's the detail that counts with stuff like this.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

might be wrong but didn't think they were able to get the 75% tax rate through into law

I don't know about France, but in Spain I'm pretty sure they apply exceptions to professional sports and entertainment type people. A bit like what they did here during the Olympics last year also.

It's the reason why Usain Bolt refused to compete in the UK for a long period prior to the Olympics.

I think Spain is tightening up their tax affairs, both for players and clubs. Both factors in the recent flow of players out of the league (excepting Real and Barca obviously).

I think you are correct, they do a similar thing in Turkey specifically for footballers in the top division

Cabaye left out tonight. Wonder if Mike cashley is thinking about selling.
