Think the criticism of Arsenal and Wenger is ott, personally. They won 7 of their last 8 games and pummelled Chelsea in the final. They're not far off the likes of us, spurs and Chelsea but without CL, it's possible the gap could get bigger.

If I were an Arsenal fan I would be seriously pissed with Wenger now though. He could have signed that ages ago and clearly knew he was always going to do so. Assuming, you believe his word that it had nothing to do with trophies, aka FA cup... Why would any player want to play for him now> How can a player have loyalty to Arsenal knowing that the manager can't make up his mind until the last moment?

Maybe he thought that if he announced it earlier, the protests and booing from fans would affect the team and make things harder on the pitch. Now the season is over, he has the chance to win them over with some big signings and even if that doesn't happen, the fans will have mellowed by August and should be behind the team for as long as they are winning.

Personally I’d have walked if I was him. It’s basically the league or nothing for him and that is going to be extremely difficult.
