I used to rate him but some of his decisions while there have been baffling. The exclusion of Torreira (their best DM), Ozil (best creative player), not playing Pepe in the Europa League so he can find his feet/get some goals under his belt, and most of all, the insistence on playing the ball out from the back when they don't have the players to do so.

The funny thing, is if Benitez hadn't gone to China, he would've been perfect to step in temporarily.

I think Ancelotti could get the best of that group of players. It's decent, but tactically, it's an absolute mess.

Rafa would have been a great appointment for them. There's so much to do to fix their issues, the defence is a shambles and the midfield isn't any better really.

In Aubameyang and Lacazette they have two good strikers but that's not going to be anywhere near enough for where they want to be.

I'm not sure that's necessarily a limiting factor. He was being talked about on the radio by some journos last night (when this already looked likely), with no mention that he wouldn't be able to take up the role.
