Only about £40m in sales so far in that time too.

And Arteta says they still want more this window.

Think they have bought well this window.

Some of those they bought we might look at and say they are not good enough for our team, but they are certainly upgrades to the Arsenal team and squad.

Jesus is one I would have had in our squad though. I do rate him as a player.

Still need a DM and a better GK imo but they might be gambling on a couple players staying fit enough to get by.

Given them a little bit of depth of quality in a couple positions too.

They will finish nowhere near us in the league but then that is not going to be their aim. Their squad looks good enough to at least compete for fourth place and is in and around the same sort of quality as the Manc and Spurs squads imo.

Arsenal have Arteta as a possible fly in the ointment. (but that pov depends on whether you rate him or not)

Mancs have an unproven at a higher level manager.

Spurs have a guy who melts down after a couple seasons in charge and this is to be his second full season.

Could well be a season where a West Ham type club gets properly into the mix for fourth as long as they do not end up running on fumes thanks to injuries like they did at the end of last season.

I disagree I think the top 6 all have done signigicant business this summer and expect that the gap will be larger this season to the rest of the league.

What are you disagreeing with? Don't think anyone said that the top six did not do significent business or that there will not be a gap between the top 6 or 7 and the rest.

My post is mainly about the teams that will be imo scrapping for 4th place.

Arsenal,Spurs, Mancs, West Ham (may be an and/or situation with another club either taking the place of WH or making it a top 7 and then a gap to the rest)

Top Three I think will be

            Liverpool
            Man City
            .
            Substantial gap again
            .
            Chelsea

            Then followed by

            Arsenal
            Spurs
            Mancs
            West Ham (or Another).

Then a solid gap of six or so points to the next team.

Arsenal just spanked Chelsea 4-0 in a pre season friendly. Tuchel questioning players commitment.

The one I am looking forward to is Chelsea vs Spurs.

Conte and Tuchel on the touchline might be a more entertaining spat than anything on the pitch.

I think Conte is happy as long players buy into his methods and he gets backing in the transfer market. Everything is looking harmonious there for at least the next season imo.

Tuchel though is another one with history for falling out with everyone and getting sacked in year 2 or 3. I see he’s throwing players under buses after their friendly defeat last night. Possibly more chance of an implosion there than Spurs?

Arsenal for all the money they’ve spent, still haven’t solved 2 of their biggest issues, as you say.

For now though, I think last season’s top 4 are still the 4 best squads with the 4 best coaches in the PL.

Arsenal seem to get away with it.

Pepe was a £75m signing, a failure no matter which way you look at it. They are all in again this year, but seem to have been able to leverage the City connection. Really unusual to see 2 'top' teams from the same league trading.

Huge pressure on Arteta this season.

Arsenal have traditionally always bought from or sold to the top four teams.

Plenty of transfers between them and Liverpool/Blue Mancs/Red Mancs/Chelsea over the years

Chamberlain, Wellbeck, Sanchez, Nasri, Giroud and Clichy. Probably a lot more that could be added.
