Massive blow for the United game cos' when you stop their wingers you can go a long way to stopping them.

His pace and strength ideal up against the tank that is Valencia - albeit totally out of form. In fact he's been so bad he probably won't play.

And assistant manager Colin Pascoe, standing in for Rodgers for the trip to Loftus Road, confirmed that Enrique is Liverpool's latest casualty and that he is facing a stint on the sidelines.

He said: "Unfortunately it looks like he's got a tear in his hamstring.

removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Guardian saying that we have "lost José Enrique to a slight hamstring tear"

Maybe not as bad as we feared?

They need a scan to determine how bad a tear it is so the language is necessarily imprecise at this stage. It's impossible to say for sure now whether it's a 'tweak' or a 'pull' or a 'tear' but from the way he walked off it hardly looked like he'd ripped his hamstring in half.

It's a shame he's out as he's obviously our best left back, along with Johnson, but I didn't think Enrique looked all that great yesterday anyway.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I honestly think Johnson is far and away our best left back option at the minute. He's obviously better on the right but he's just a quality player these days on either side - all the other options have real deficiencies. You can see why Rodgers might make the position a priority to sort out (after attack).

I kind of discounted him a bit though as he's even better as our right back.

On balance a L/R pairing of Enrique/Johnson is probably better that Johnson/A.N.Other but it's marginal if Enrique isn't at the top of his form.

I think if Kelly or Wisdom were fit I'd rather them on the right and Johnson left at the minute.

Enrique reminds me of a more athletic/physical version of Dossena. I like the way they approach the game but at the end of the day I don't think either are good enough at left back (Enrique looks like he may be okay at left midfield though).
