I get the tackle reference but I still don't think the joke works. Give me one instance where someone as described a transfer as "a 50/50". Yes, people might say the chances of a transfer are 50/50 but I've never heard anyone say "it's a 50/50 transfer".
Yes, my avatar's expression is a fair reflection of my mood..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Hit the nail on the head there...he could go on to become a world beater...he has the ability to pull a top class finish out of the bag....Originally posted by acdmackay View PostHope we can get Sturridge, would test how much they really want Meireles because Sturridge is a real talent.

But, er.....is'nt that what they mean, the transfer is 50/50 to go through....and he heard it was 50/50 so pulled out ?Originally posted by Neil Young View PostI get the tackle reference but I still don't think the joke works. You've inadvertently backed up my argument. You said "the transfer is 50/50", not it's "a 50/50 transfer". It's just not a figure of speech anyone uses.
My point is jokes like that don't work if they rely on unnatural constructions.
What do you think?

I don't think Meireles should be sold, it would be tempting if Chelsea offered us Daniel Sturridge and money as "the metro" has just suggested but even then i think we should reject any move. Firstly i don't think we should ever really be selling to our immediate rivals and secondly i think a slight weakness we have in the squad is a lack of pace in the centre of the park with Gerrard out injured. Adam and Lucas look good together but they are not the fastest and while Henderson can play in front of them, Meireles is both pacey and extremely hard working, this could come in handy against teams like city who have very quick players in Nasri and Silva!Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

Any deal for Meireles should involve Sturridge coming the other way if we do sell him, we missed out on that opportunity when Torres went the other wayWe managed to rectify it, though, because it now says, "Cook" where it once said "Cock", and "Pass" where it once said "Piss", so it’s slightly less rude.
