Mereiles is a fantastic player, but he is a bottler when it comes to the physical side of the game. Signing Bellamy more than makes up for the goals he would have scored. Bellamy is a better option as he is fearless, unlike Mereiles.

Another thing the recent finger incident with Lucas.....one rotten apple can destroy everything

I quite like the guy but if he wants out.... C'est la vie
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

I'm not too bothered that Meireles has gone, I'm disappointed in the way he behaved: in handing in a transfer request about an hour before the window shut. I'm also disappointed we didn't take the Chavs for more money, I think what we got was a fair price, but at that stage of the window we should be screwing them for a bit extra.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Good bit of business selling him. What did we pay for him again?

I think it was against Arsenal when Frimpong gave Lucas the bird and Meireles mocked this by doing it again to Lucas when we scored the 2nd goal.

We did'nt even re-coup his wages, thought we could have at least managed that seeing as the chavs seemingly really wanted him, even being prepared to buy without him having a medical and while injured.

Oh, and what a ****! transfer request half hour before the window shuts!

I knew he was gone the second LFC made it public that he'd handed in the transfer request - he would NEVER have been able to stay with the fans' knowledge of that!
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

Agree he's a good player and contributed a lot last year but with our new signings he would have been a squad player. Don't forget Steve is coming back and Bellemy has return making him even less likely to get in the team. Considering all that £14m for a 28 year old squad player is good business.

BTW Chelski rushed the transfer through, he didn't even have a medical last night!!
This city has two great football teams – Liverpool and Liverpool reserves

                          That's really harsh.
                          Are we winning?

Wasn't there some information/gossip floating around recently that suggested he had been promised an improved contract/pay-rise this summer by the previous regime? If the new owners then didn't honour this you can kind of understand he might be a little pissed and if he's then offered a much better contract at Chelsea......

                            Just saying.

Yeah, the reserves are nowhere near that bad.

The above makes alot more sense than anything else. He's not at all guaranteed first team football at Chelsea. Nowhere near.

                                Edit: referring to Reece's post
