Caracciolo, Palermo's centre forward has been heavily linked with us recently.

We already have Crouchiolo.

It does seem awfully convenient for us to say it's gone very much downhill since we won it, but the fact is it's true. As you say Grouch, we beat Roma and Barcelona en route to our win, and beat a much mocked team in the final who'd actually slammed about ten past Inter Milan over two legs in the semis.

The format now is a farce, and only further weakens an already drab competition.

I believe Alaves actually beat Kaiserslautern in the semis .

I think the UEFA Cup is crap now, as others have said in the years since we won it is has decreased in significance and importance dramatically. Ever since they started letting "Fair play" teams it's been a bit of a joke really.

Fair Play & Inter Toto semi-finalists (or however it's worked out) combined makes it a joke channel five cup, it'd be a nightmare to only qualify for that, I'd prefer to do a scum and finish last of our group and out of Europe than be third and banished to the UEFA Cup!
