Sometimes he reminds me a bit of when Houllier used to stick Biscan at centre back alongside Sammy - ok a lot more composed, but just that awkward presence.

I think we all thought that at the start of the season, but few could deny Carra has done tremendously well when called upon. I'm sure his presense is invaluable for players like Wisdom and even someone like Allen's who's new to the team.Originally posted by Nick77 View PostLike Sahin, a lack of game time is hampering any progress for both players. I think if we'd had more experienced full back options we could have afforded to play him more often in the intermediate games.Originally posted by Nick77 View PostLike Sahin, a lack of game time is hampering any progress for both players. As it is we're playing inexperienced youngsters in many of the wide positions in the team, and to then add another inexperienced player in the middle of the park might upset things too much for Rodgers' linking.
I'm liking how good Carragher has been this season, but personally i still would have given Coates more chances alongside him. But this may be the reason why he hasn't.

I'm not denying Carra has done well when called upon. I just think it's pointless not giving Coates more experience in case he is needed. Carra won't be a player next season so giving him a handful of games this season is not gonna bode well for the long term of the club.Originally posted by kalesh View PostI think we all thought that at the start of the season, but few could deny Carra has done tremendously well when called upon. Well, if we're that daft not to give him a chance, then we should at least insert a buy-back clause of some kind.Rodgers is also interested in Nicolas Isimat-Mirin, the 21-year-old Valenciennes centre back. The Liverpool manager would need to generate funds for that, a situation that could lead to the departure of Sebastián Coates, who is interesting Napoli, Juventus and Lazio.
Queens Park Rangers asked Liverpool if they would let Coates go out on loan but that request was rejected and the Uruguay defender will only be allowed to leave if a significant offer is received. Joe Cole is expected to sign for QPR after his hopes of rejoining Lille were dashed.

Another slightly worrying development, if true that is. I suspect he must be on a reasonable wage, that seems to be the reason we get rid of most players, as opposed to footballing reasons. At his age and undoubted talent he seems to fit with our model in every other way.Originally posted by Phoenix07 View PostWell, if we're that daft not to give him a chance, then we should at least insert a buy-back clause of some kind.Cult Member. Yep, that would make sense... But for some reason we seem to be looking to cash in.Originally posted by Leyton388 View PostCoates is a good solid defender who should go out on loan. Going to QPR on loan will do him wonders as he will be in a real dogfight for survival.Cult Member. Nazi puncher.

Is that really better for him than if he played at the top level in Italy?Originally posted by Leyton388 View PostCoates is a good solid defender who should go out on loan. Going to QPR on loan will do him wonders as he will be in a real dogfight for survival.

Totally but it appears that rejecting that opportunity, if it is true, we are more interested in selling him than giving him more experience someplace else in PL due to lack of playing time with us.Originally posted by Leyton388 View PostCoates is a good solid defender who should go out on loan. No it wouldn't if we have any intentions of keeping him but it doesn't appear BR is a fan.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostIs that really better for him than if he played at the top level in Italy?
He needs experience at PL level (not Serie A and it is also highly unlikely he'd be a first choice CB at any top club in Italy atm) and QPR would be a good option.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

I don't think QPR would be better personally, think he'll learn more about defending in a manner that would suit us at Juve than he would at QPR.Originally posted by Mostar View PostTotally but it appears that rejecting that opportunity, if it is true, we are more interested in selling him than giving him more experience someplace else in PL due to lack of playing time with us.

I think he just needs football.
Personally I'd like to see him on loan in the PL because I think that increases the chances of him sticking around and it gives us a chance to keep a close eye on his progress. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

At QPR he would have realistic chance to actually play regularly which it wouldn't be the case at Juve but I am not convinced Rodgers has any desire to keep him around anyway.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostI don't think QPR would be better personally, think he'll learn more about defending in a manner that would suit us at Juve than he would at QPR.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club
