if seb comes good then we will have given him good experience in the prem without compromising our first team.

we need to use the opportunity to loan more fringe players and see if they can step up.

His fellow defender Sebastián Coates may be allowed to leave Liverpool on loan in the transfer window providing there is necessary cover for Martin Skrtl and Daniel Agger, Rodgers has confirmed. Obviously a loan is a good way for young players to get some experience and play some games for a season, but it seems clear that Rodgers doesn't rate Coates. Can't see him coming back if he goes.

I think he has loads of potential but at the minute he panics too often on the ball and makes too many mistakes. He needs games. If he went somewhere that allowed him to work out his kinks he might even compete with Skrtel and Agger IMO, without them he'll waste away. he might still be sold after a loan but keeping him here is obviously a waste for us and him.

We paid a good chunk of money for a player so unproven, kinda bought him off the back of a good international tournament..... like that hasn't happened before!

IMO he looks like he could be a decent CB in Europe but i just don't see him making it in the Premier League at the minute, so makes perfect sense to loan him out, get him playing regular competitive football and see how he progresses. At the very least we can boost up his resale value.

Carragher turns 35 at the end of this months getting rid of Coates because Carragher is playing well is not a sensible strategy. Carragher probably only has a couple of years left even playing as a back up, if we get rid of Coates we'll need another two centre backs in the next couple of years.
