One of my mates who supports Chelsea was cheering on City yesterday to stop us winning it... That really confuses me, as surely an Everton result would move them closer to winning it?

I've not wanted us to win before to stop utd. I've wanted us to lose to get rid of houllier. It happens. Everton were out of the chase for 4th in all reality and 5th is secure. They hate us so of course they couldn't celebrate the thought of helping us. Its all understandable. West brom away where we pissed the game at a stroll but didn't try for a second goal and toure went cunty by gifting them has cost us the title.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

I thought the players did ok, apart from a few mares. From the get go it was a genuinely weird atmosphere. Looking at Martinez on the sidelines, he genuinely wanted to win. I don't subscribe to all these conspiracy theories about the players, i thought if they had Mirallas & Barry (arguably their two best players this season & with such a small squad) they would have beaten City.
The muted atmosphere was a banker to effect the players, it made the game seems lethargic & meaningless. As for the fans, personally i think it's an absolute embarrassment wanting your team to lose.. just for the sake of bragging/slagging rights. After all Everton mathematically were still in contention for a champs league spot, even if it was remote.
Obviously had a few tiffs with Everton fans on this & of course they brought the Liverpool vs Chelsea back in 2010. So just out of curiosity i had a look back in the thread & not only was there complete lack of interest in the thread (Chel vs Liverpool!)... some people did want us to lose. I remember a lot of LFC fans i talked to wanting us to lose or couldn't care less and joking about the result, just so United wouldn't win the league. This was across all the forums too. Lot of bitter LFC supporters back then too

True, and i was one of them who thought it was time for him to go.. but i didn't want my team to lose, just so i could laugh at United. Embarrassing.Originally posted by john316 View PostI think at that time, a lot of supporters had had enough of Rafa Benitez which contributed to that atmosphere.
Fair play to Mattshark & Lee in the thread, they were only ones that seemed genuinely disgusted

Not sure about that it was a great header and Howard was getting back into position from the original save. Think the defending in General was more of an issue.

It's like time stood still Chazza before he dived. Looked very much like he delayed it. Don't matter anyway we'll still win itOriginally posted by Chazza View PostNot sure about that it was a great header and Howard was getting back into position from the original save. As for the thread, I can hold my head high, proper fan me
