He literally would.
His style is cautious, which is forgotten when you win but as soon as he loses a couple on the trot the fans will be onto him. Apart from another big payday and being back on Merseyside you've got to wonder why.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

His family have remained based in West Kirby. A job in the Premier League that allows him to remain at home too? No great mystery why it appeals. What better offer is he getting?Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View Post

Rafa was never a cautious manager with us. He had a plan and he wanted to control every element of the team and never quite got there. But he absolutely developed and maximised world class attacking talent.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View Post

Rafa has the skin of a rhino. Not surprised he might go to Everton - he's done Chelsea and Real Madrid. Just not sure Everton fans can cope.

We see it differently. We drew loads of games against poor teams, especially at home by playing cautiously. I remember being at games and the crowd were shouting attack attack attack. He tried to be clever in the CL final and ****ed it. First one he got lucky and second by not playing crouch who was unplayable in Europe at that time, it was madness. I'm not glossing over all the good and we did get close to winning but we left ourselves with too much to do with the drawn games. For 2 seasons it was good fun and then it tailed off and after that rant and selling alonso it went downhill. His heart is magnificent and as a man he's right up there. Nothing but respect as a top guy but I'd never want him anywhere near the managers seat here again.Originally posted by Saveloy View PostRafa was never a cautious manager with us. i think the Alonso thing was crazy. Gareth Barry - jesus christ. Aquilani was a total car crash too.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostWe see it differently. I think he is a legend and was a cunt hair away from being ****in amazing. We were cooking on gas improving all the time and the new ownership thing is where you can pinpoint it all going wrong I think. He must have been excited as **** when you consider the players we are rumoured to just not have enough cash for - Aguero, Silva, Villa, Alves to name a few - and they all went on to be world class. Early signs with Torres was that this could be beautiful and then it all went to rat-****.
He was so ****in close.
Plus towards the end of the Houllier reign, I was starting to fall out of love with football and the Benitez project really got me interested again. I used to love watching Alonso.
If Everton back him financially and the fans put their bitterness aside, then he could be brilliant for them.
I think he would have been brilliant for spurs as well. They have 3 or 4 decent attacking players and he would have been ideal to set them up to stop being so ****in soft in defense.

This was always a possibility with him still living on the Wirral.
It is hard to see how it works out well for Rafa though. The very first bad spell they have he'll get unbelievable abuse
They will HAVE to get off to a good start. There will be zero bedding in period for him.
I think there's a chance he wins them the league cup or something but the question is will he survive long enough to do it
It's a strange situation as I love the man so I can't help but wish him well there, it's going to be very weird.
