Our strikers miss-firing on a frequent basis is and has been our major problem most of the seasonOriginally posted by Mattshark View PostPart of it.
And thats with a team that includes "****" players such as Adam, Downing and HendersonBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Yes, those 3 goals from midfield really helped haven't they.Originally posted by Lecter View PostOur strikers miss-firing on a frequent basis is and has been our major problem most of the season

I mean that is so much more helpful compared to Suarez's return.

You mean Suarez return of 6 goals in 21 league games (19 starts) and 1 assistOriginally posted by Mattshark View PostYes, those 3 goals from midfield really helped haven't they.

Hardly the form you'd expect from an AVERAGE striker/forward nevermind from someone of his quality
The FACT is ALL of our players have been profligate this season
None more so than the bulk of our strikers/forwardsBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Yes that is more goals than all of those midfielders combined
So lets blame him.

Its his jobOriginally posted by Mattshark View PostYes that is more goals than all of those midfielders combined

Hes also had more chances than all our midfielders combined and missed more of them
His job is to score goals and provide assists which he hasnt done enough of
Just like our midfield hasnt done enough of that either
Hes as much to blame as the others
This is my whole point I refuse to seperate him from the rest of the players who arent hitting the required standard in this departmentBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Disagree he makes some of them himself but not most/all of themOriginally posted by Mattshark View PostYes, but he has to make most of them himself.
I've said before I've no problem with him dribbling round players then missing chances
Its when hes given easy chances created by his teammates that I have a problem with and hes missed quite a few of them alsoBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Considering how unnaturally deep Adam has had to play all season his production levels have been fairly impressive. On the flip side Adam playing that deep has caused an imbalance in the midfield, and for the most part we have been playing without a natural DM.
I think injuries this season have seen likes of Adam/Henderson & Downing getting more game time than they should. Downing has no excuses he's playing in areas where he has experience and he is not producing, Henderson has been average IMO but has been played at RM alot and it's pretty evident by his performances that is not his position, although he has played at RM for Sunderland before and done well for them there.
Alot of people have given Adam stick, but forget that he is playing a deeper role than he should be. At Blackpool he pretty much had a free role in midfield & with our injuries he has been asked to fulfil a role that IMO & he is just not able to do. The guy can hardly run, he can't tackle, he is rash and his positional sense is nothing short of appalling. These aren't exactly good attributes for a deep lying CM or DM. We were starting to see a really good partnership develop between Lucas & Adam before Lucas's injury.
IMO you only see the best of Charlie Adam when there is an out and out DM behind him, that can cover the spaces and protect that back line. Clearly Adam/Gerrard CM partnership doesn't work, both aren't great defensively, and of course you sacrifice their attacking strengths. Spearing has done well and i like him, but he is never going to be a first teamer IMO, maybe a very good squaddie.
He has been incredibly frustrating at times this season, and in some cases a bit ****, especially his set pieces. But i'm not going to judge him until we see him in a more progressive role, which IMO would utilise his best assets & negate his defensive weakness. Forgetting his god awful defensive blunders, 2 goals and 11 assists from a deep CM role is pretty impressive.
EDIT: P.S. I'd be more worried about the Downing,Carroll & Henderson than i would Adam.Last edited by danperkins; 09-03-12, 05:26 PM.

Imo not good enough for the starting job.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostHe's not very good though is he.

His set piece delivery has been poor especially lately, which was the main reason why we brought him in the first place.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club
