Who said I wasn't willing to change them?Originally posted by Alex View PostIt would be stupid if you were never willing to change them.
I'm not personally attacking people for having a different opinion though.

Well to be fair, when people don't agree with you, you do tend think they are wrong.Originally posted by Alex View PostI'm not saying you wont. I will say I don't think I've ever noticed you change your opinion though.
It seems to be either agree with me, or your wrong.
I have changed my mind on plenty of things. I haven't seen anything to change my mind in this case though. If Henderson does become a top class player I will be delighted, but right now I see him as an average player who doesn't offer us enough.

EDIT: Balls, they've started getting all reasonable.
.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Whilst the negativity of Matt Shark annoys me, I do have to admit that I've never once seen him proved wrong about a player.
Looking at past history, someone being logical would come to the conclusion that his views are harsh but fair.
I think people's annoyance with him generally comes from him giving large doses of reality checks.
I guess some of his views could be proved wrong in time, and I hope that's the case with Hendo.
Put it this way though, can anyone come up with anything to suggest mattshark gets judgement calls on players wrong?Forwards.......

Fair enough. I personally think Henderson has the attributes to be decent for us. I don't think he will be pivotal as someone said. But he certainly will do a decent job for us.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostWell to be fair, when people don't agree with you, you do tend think they are wrong.

The problem with this discussion in general is it's either subjective or hypothetical. Therefore it's hard to substantiate the accuracy of something that hasn't/ won't/ couldn't happen.
And it was clear as day to everyone that Downing would be a poor signing. Carroll could never live up to the price tag and Matt's right. We do get linked with some real crap. If we ended up with half the toss we're linked with we'd bear more relation to Donkey Kong Country than a football club.
That said the good ship Mertesacker has been a bit of a disaster. Slowest man on the planet and whenever I've had the good fortune to visit his comedy defending he's thrown clangers about all over the shop. So he got that wrong.A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

I'd also suggest it's relevant that most transfers are not roaring successes.
And given the ridiculous level of the average transfer fee, there is usually a perfectly serviceable argument available that anything but a roaring success was not the worth the money.
There are notable exceptions - Newcastle have had a good run recently - but some are bound to be good too.Last edited by Neil Young; 30-08-12, 01:23 PM..
