He always seemed to describe a goal as

        'AND IT'S IN THERE!!!!!'

Me and my brother noticed it once, and he just did repeatedly after that. We found it most amusing.
        Oh I don't know.

Haha yeah "and it's in there!" is legendary. Same as him saying "(insert player's name) now"........."SOWNESS NOW"

Barry Davies gets so much stick, he's hated by many but I loved him as a kid. Palpable excitement.

I wonder if it was an intentional catchphrase, or whether he genuinely didn't know what else to say? Goals always seemed to catch him by surprise.
            Oh I don't know.

Barry Davies is a pompous bore.
                  .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I should add I slightly preferred him to Motson when I was younger but I listen to him now and he's just abysmal.

When he was commentating on a Wozniacki match at Wimbledon this year I had to watch with the sound off.

I shared a car with Motty and Clint Dempsey a few weeks back (clang) and Motty was a true gent and quite funny.

Don't like him on the tennis, I must say.

Haha how the hell did that come about?

I met Motty once, at Hillsborough. He was very amiable.

Shared the shuttle car from the staff car park to Craven Cottage. Motty was covering the match for MOTD.
