Germany and Portugal charged by UEFA
Uefa has charged the Germany football association for the behaviour of their supporters who threw missiles on to the pitch during Saturday's Euro 2012 match against Portugal.
Fans were repeatedly warned about their actions through speaker announcements during the Group B fixture in Lviv which Germany won 1-0.
The Portuguese face proceedings for a delayed kick-off to the second half.
Uefa will deal with the issues on Thursday, 14 June.
The objects thrown on to the pitch by Germany fans appeared to be paper missiles.
Authorities announced in the stadium that the match could be abandoned if it continued.

I whole heartedly support UEFA in their efforts to stamp out this atrocious behaviour. Throwing paper and poor time keeping is a disease that we must stamp out. We are not talknig about the highjinks of violent assault or the tomfoolery of racial abuse. This sort of **** is serious.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Euro 2012 - Croatia fans held after Poznan fighting
Croatian fans threw chairs, bottles and flares at Polish riot police in the city of Poznan as they clashed ahead of Sunday's Euro 2012 game between Croatia and Ireland.
A police spokesman said three people were arrested after the incident in Poznan's old town square, where thousands of Irish and Croatian fans, many clad in the national red-and-white checkerboard shirts, gathered ahead of the match.
The spokesman said it began after a clash in one of the bars between intoxicated fans of two rival Croatian teams from Zagreb and Split shortly after 5:00 pm (1500 GMT).
The police said it would examine closed circuit video from the centre square to identify additional culprits.
Croatia beat Ireland 3-1 in the Group C match.
Earlier on Sunday, Poland's Interior Minister Jacek Cichocki said police had arrested nine foreign fans since the start on Friday of the tournament being co-hosted with Ukraine.
A website for one of the Polish newspapers said the police had also identified 12 Russian fans suspected of violence during their team's opening 4-1 victory over the Czech Republic.
The Russian soccer federation and the national team on Sunday urged their fans in Poland to behave after some supporters threw fireworks, displayed illicit banners and beat up one of the volunteers at the stadium.

You wouldn't get many Liverpool fans at an England gameOriginally posted by dom9 View PostCrazy.
That is the equivalent of Liverpool and United fans having a ruck at an England game. It just wouldn't happen.
But I agree it is crazyLast edited by Exiled_red; 11-06-12, 06:07 PM.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

One problem i think many teams have had in general so far at this tournament is getting players behind the opponents defensive line. This is probably most likely to very organised defending of the likes of Denmark, Italy and England, however i couldn't help but thinking when watching Germany, Spain or Holland attack that there was a lack of diagonal runs made by wing-forwards across the backline, or of attacking midfielders through the centre. In most instances it was just the furthest forward laying the ball horizontally across or backwards for a shot at goal.
Nothing wrong with that tactic but i think its led to less clear cut chances for those teams and hence less goals. Spain often rely on their wing backs for width and until the second half that was lacking, Dutch wingers like Robben and Afellay would always look to come in field with defenders in front of them rather than making runs behind them, German wing-forwards did a similar thing or instead they crossed more often to Big Mario. Fabregas' goal was a good example of a forward making a slanted run through and benefiting from it.
I guess the point im trying to make is that i think by having only one proper out and out forward or in Spains case none, you can limit yourself from craeting more clear cut chances. At least thats what i have observed so far after the first round of matches, Torres' introduction did lead to better chances being created, he was just not able to finish them.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!
