    Wilfried Zaha

Palace pair Clyne and Zaha being tracked by host of Premier League clubs

Crystal Palace's heroic night at Old Trafford has left the club fighting to keep two of their hottest prospects.

Nathaniel Clyne and Wilfried Zaha were both watched by a string of scouts from Barclays Premier League clubs during the 2-1 Carling Cup win over Manchester United.

And Dougie Freedman’s side could lose the youngsters next month after both excelled on Wednesday night.

Many enquiries were made over the phone regarding the Palace pair on Thursday.

Liverpool are leading the chase for striker Zaha, 19, and they had scouts at Old Trafford. The Anfield club are now ready in January to table a £5million bid, which would rise to £8m.

Liverpool have kept close tabs on Zaha since he broke into the first team at the start of last season. But the Merseysiders know they have to move quickly, with a clutch of top-flight clubs, including Tottenham, West Bromwich, Fulham and Stoke, all vying for his signature.

The Eagles have managed to fight off serious interest from Wolves and Birmingham for key defender Clyne in the past but now look likely to lose the England Under 21 right back.

The 20-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season when he can leave on a free transfer, though interested clubs would be required to pay compensation to Palace.

Sources close to Clyne have indicated to Sportsmail that he will not sign fresh terms at Selhurst Park, though his outlook may change if the club are promoted to the Premier League.

Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish is an admirer of Clyne, but he failed to lure the defender to Birmingham during his time at St Andrew’s.

    Anyone know much about him?

Zaha looks a brilliant prospect and was about the best player on the pitch at Old Trafford, a constant menace with pace, effort and tricks. Ran the entire game. I think £8m would be a suitable gamble.

Clearly talented and full of tricks, but probably too much tricks and not enough sensible thinking. He needs to gain some footballing intelligence because, based on Wednesday night, he has very little. As things stand, he's nowhere near LFC standard.

Only seemed to have one trick to me.

That's a fair point, but you could say the same of Cristiano Ronaldo at Man Utd

It may only be one trick, but if it works consistently, no complaints

When i said 'too much tricks', i more meant that he does his 'one' trick too often, and sometimes when an easy simple ball is the better option.

But yeah, he's not 'full of tricks' perhaps. He's full of trick.

Yes but being a member of a team that beats Manchester United at Old Trafford is a pretty good trick to have.
            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

He's only 19 i suppose. But he came across as pretty brainless the other night, very frustrating at times.

Which single trick was this? I saw him pulling off loads of moves

I also thought he was Palace's biggest threat all night although clearly he isn't the finished player quite yet.

Seems to miss more than he scores on that clip!

Good player though, reminds me a bit of Barnes the way he carries the ball.

I saw his goal record the other day. Something like 3 goals in 59 games. For a forward.

Our designated non goalscoring forward spot is already taken
                          We come not to play.

He'll fit right in with our other attacking players

He wasn't really playing as a forward the other night though was he?

He seemed to be in the middle of the park or on the right wing/right side coming inside or going out wide.

Ideally we need a goal poacher not someone like him but he'd be a welcome addititon nonetheless he has a lot of potential.

Something I liked about him too was when he got a knock he didn't go to ground for long, he was straight back up on his feet trying to have a go again.
