He went through the entire season completing an astonishing low amount of tackles. It's impossible to carry someone like that in centre mid in the prem league. And despite his goal scoring spell last season, that wasn't the norm for him, so he wasn't no attacking in the hole player. I'm happier with the options we have currently tbh.

Plus Meireles has one of the worst haircuts any footballer has ever sported. For Chelsea to have the splendid looks of Luiz and then Raul in one side annoys me slightly.

Leaving aside the whole manner in which he left etc............I would describe his Liverpool career as one of disappointment really.
He was a midfielder I was really looking forward to seeing, especially given the level of experience he had accumulated in European competition etc, but aside from a period of irregular goal-scoring (for him anyway), he never quite looked the part, which is something his goal-scoring exploits covered over somewhat.
Used out of position in some games, he never grasped his chance fully IMO when it did come, and there is certainly an argument to suggest his all-round game wasn't offering enough.
A loss to the squad, no doubt, but in the end, his Liverpool Past Player profile will be insignificant.

Now, with that out of the way, he's a cunt. A cunt with a **** haircut.

I was thinking the other day that I'm so grateful to see him making his "hair fashion statement" with his new club rather than us. It fits perfectly their mentality.

In terms of his footballing qualities, I think he is a decent footballer but his game has too many holes for him to be effective in longer term in PL and I'm content to see him leave while his stock was still high.

he did boss a couple of games for us, but seems to have settled in to the chelsea mentality of fat wages, let some other ****er do the graft

IMO if he was still here he would start over Adam, or indeed start behind Suarez in the absence of Gerrard, was a good passer of the ball and read the game very well. the only real criticism I had of him was his tendency to shoot when there was other options on.

The only good thing Roy brought to this club IMO.
yeah, it's a shame they are using the adidas tango 12 for the 2012 euro

I liked Meireles and i think alot of people are forgetting it was his 1st season in the Premier League & I think he would have added something different this season.

but after saying that i still think it was good buisness getting rid of him for the money we got!!!

He is neat and tidy player with excellent movement and a great engine.

He was ok for us - without excelling in many games therefore he is no real loss IMO.

I liked Raul. Not every player is going to excel in everything. Tackling wasn't his strong point. He was good at the things he could do well though. Bit sad when he left as he was decent cover.

He was a decent player but he was signed as a central midfielder but was unsuited to that role in the Premiership. We ended up playing him out of position where he did quite well, when we signed other players to play those roles he was always going to be a squad player, he wage demands and the good patch he had last year made the summer the ideal time to sell him and get a decent fee.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Dunno, I think we've missed him creativity-wise. But then we've underused Maxi, so Raul'd have got even less of a look-in.
