Is he trying to model himself on Michael Owen or is it coincidental?

De Gea was shocking again yesterday, terrible for the pen and his awful distribution led to one of the goals. **** all mentioned on sky though. Very poor v Leicester too.

If they get a more expansive manager in the future who plays a high line it'll be interesting to see how he performs over a season. He doesn't like coming off his line and is dodgy at best with the ball. As much as he bails them out at times he is a bit of a deluxe Shay Given.

De Gea has been the difference between them finishing above us instead of below us for the past couple of seasons.

Our goalkeeper upgrade and De Gea going through a bad spell will fix that this season.

With Bailly and Lindelof at CB they are going to have some really difficult moments this season

Jones and Smalling will sort them out.

Thats a good point actually. That pass was shocking, and I've literally not seen any mention of it. And as you say he seemed to let that pen go straight through him. Needless to say if one of our keepers did the same it would be headline news.

I noted on the goal with the bad pass, that it looked like a tactical move, with the fullbacks pushing on, the defender splitting, to offer options to De Gea, in a poor attempt to copy us/city.

They were a main news item (Utds problems) on 5 live this morning But as was pointed out, which manager is out there that could improve things for them?

                          Smalling > VVD
                          Fred > Keita

They can be as adamant about that as they want really. It is clearly untrue.

It is interesting to note how many of them are utterly deluded about the current malaise v. those who are starting to realise they are in deep **** with Jose.

                            Fred looks ****ing terrible.

interesting comments about De Gea-I don't watch a lot of Utd (obviously!) so always took it as almost gospel that he's the best keeper in the world (always seems to be making crucial saves to keep utd in a game) but saw him for Spain in the World Cup and he looked a bit meh. Will keep a closer eye on him this season as it looks like he is flapping a bit and struggling for them. If he isn't performing for them then utd will be in serious trouble.
