The DeGea was a strange one especially as they need a new forward, take the hit for a year on his wages and then look for next season. after this one, they would defo need to sell before they can buy.

He was on something like 375k per week. I think it went back to when he won all their player of the year awards and they would genuinely have been bottom half without him for a few years. He rightly pointed to the wages that the likes of Pogba, Sanchez, Zlatan were all on, put on his best Robert DeNiro Goodfellas impression and said "**** you...... Pay me" in his contract negotiations. Fair ****s.

I think united had offered him something like 200k pw and then tried to negotiate it down further. ****in stupid but they could end up with something like tom heaton in goal if they dont get it sorted out

apparently they had agreed a new contract at 200k per week which De Gea signed. The club then ripped that up and offered lower terms again.

de Gea reluctantly agreed (seems he would like to go back to Spain but none of the top Spanish clubs need new keepers).

They then withdrew that offer and said he could leave on a free. They have apparently asked him not to sign for anybody else yet until they can sign a replacement. Like wtf?!

I’m pretty sure it was Ray Liotta who delivered that line

He signed a contract and it was ripped up?

Sorry mate, I know nothing about DG's situation but this is clearly untrue

He agreed to a 3 year extension at £200k, the club then went back, he agreed to a 2 year deal at £180K, Both parties accepted until MU ripped it up again and offered far less., both based on not extending current deal and no signing bonus.

I think they'll miss De Gea massively. Yes he's made some absolute howlers but he's also kept them in a lot games with world class saves. I think the saves he consistently makes for them in games is overlooked because he made the most **** ups directly leading to goals. You can do both in the same game and he does. **** them both.
Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won

I'm not arguing the toss on whether the deal was changed - I have no idea what went on - but there is no chance that a signed deal was ripped up as suggested.
