what is important is they won't get the money they need to properly rebuild. And if they dont make champions league, they can't afford/wont be able to attract, the calibre of players needed.

All these little things do add up.

Rooney wanting to leave, could he see it coming? i think so, it happens at under 10's - you have a good side, but you can see the cracks appearing and you jump ship - he'll look around thinking another two or three seasons - rio/vidic/evra/van persie/carrick/giggs - all will be gone, he'd be the only one left, he'll want out before that happens.

Appointing moyes and not someone bigger - Personally i think it's a good move by the board in a backwards/non footballing kind of way

Firstly - any top manager would have wanted big money, and as they were following ferguson, big assurances that they could do what was required....a top manager would have said, I'll come to United, but i've identified that there are 6 key players in their 30's and I need £100m to £150m to replace them over the next two/three transfer windows. The board would have just baulked at this....

however, going for Moyes - he's just estatic to get the job, and would be willing to work with whatever players he's given, just to be given the chance to work at united.

i still have some worries though

i still feel that there is enough experience in the squad that'll they will dig in and find some results

On paper, you'd expect United to come out of this with minimum 10 points from the four league games (3 wins, maybe a draw) plus beating Stoke in the league cup to progress to the semi finals.

Anything less than that imo and United/Moyes will be in real trouble
