The United situation is hilarious but not unexpected really
I must admit I was really surprised when they won the league last year, that was the worst squad they have had for some time, but RVP & Rooney carried them to that title. One year later and RVP is once again a touch more injury prone, Rooney has also suffered some injuries and some of their senior players are a year older and a little further over the hill
I discussed with a bluenose mate in the summer the merits of appointing Moyes. My mate thought that he would do well, but is revelling in the fact hes not and I thought he would struggle. Don't get me wrong hes no Hodgson but his style of play isn't suited to United (just like Hodgsons wasn't suited to us). Its very different being dogged, defensive, rigid than being the gung-ho, attacking football we have seen from United over the years
There are a few important points that people have overlooked imo, its not just losing Ferguson they also lost David Gill. That is two of their senior management team, they really could have done without replacing them both at the same time. On top of that Moyes has compounded the situation further by kicking out all Fergies staff, that was a massive mistake but this was a sign of insecurity by Moyes imo
The summer transfer window was an unmitigated disaster, the pursuit of Baines & Fellaini was laughable and to eventually cough up £27 million for Fellaini was comic stuff. That is definitely a position they need to strengthen but imo that money could have been spent better elsewhere
I really don't see Moyes doing it there whether hes there long term or short term, for me it would take a complete change of ethos from him in order to succeed and the signing of Fellaini only goes to re-enforce how he actually wants to shape the team and just like Roy hes not for changing
