          Manchester United reports record revenues

Premier League champions Manchester United have reported record revenues of £363m for the 12 months to June.

The club, controlled by the Glazer family, saw a big rise in commercial revenues driven by sponsorship deals, as well as merchandising and product licensing.

It made a net profit of £146m.

The figures are the first released by United since David Moyes took over as manager following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson last season.

The club transformed into one of football's global financial powerhouses during his reign, and was floated on the New York Stock Exchange last year.

Ed Woodward, Manchester United's executive vice chairman, said: "We are very proud of our results. Our commercial business continues to be a very powerful engine of growth enabling the team to continue to be successful.

"We won our 20th English League title last season and are delighted to have David Moyes lead our football team into a new and exciting chapter. We look forward to a successful 2013-14, both on and off the pitch."

A net profit of £146m? I thought it was gross ...

£71m to service their debt, pay off £48m of the debt and they've adjusted it to £17m net.

'The £71m finance costs takes to £680m the total cost to United in interest, fees, bank charges and debt repayments of the Glazers' 2005 takeover of the club, according to Andy Green, the investment analyst who blogs on United . The £525m the American family borrowed to buy United was loaded on to the club to repay, and eight years on, despite so much interest paid, United's debt at June 30 was still £389m'.

That debt figure is a scandal. The idea someone can buy a company with the company's money is nothing more than legalised theft.
                .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Although there is nothing stopping anyone from doing it. It's all about credibility and having the chutzpah to go there.

Proper de-railing of a thread there, I felt right at home. A Moyes thread on a dart forum, touches the dirty stuff but ends about cars.

Manc fan on another forum i post on is suggesting that Van Persie is blaming the thigh strain he's picked up on his new managers over zealous training methods..........there may be trouble ahead

                          Comment

It would make sense - I imagine Wenger (towards the end) and Fergie did their best to not "over-do" Van Persie in training given his glass frame.

Will be interesting to see if he gets any more injuries throughout the season.

Didn't the Dutch coach also say the same about manures training? Christmas has come early and come to stay.

Im surprised people aren't talking about RVP's possibility of being out mid week. Could be a bit of a bonus for us considering the injuries we are dealing with. with so many defenders out he could make us look bad if he plays.
