They all agreed Looney's goal was far better than Suarez's on Goals on Sunday. Even more so apparently cos the game was 0-0 when Looney scored, whereas Luis' was "a shot to nothing" & he "had help from the keeper."

I thought Sheringham was alright on GOS, bar when it came to Suarez. Nearly killed him admitting he was the 3rd best player in the world.

I can accept the argument that Rooney's taken on the volley is harder to execute.

But he didn't execute it that well did he?! The keeper would have saved it had he not turned away and wrong footed himself.

Beckham's is by far the best of the 'mentioned' halfway line goals, although no doubt better have shown up on Youtube etc. Pure technique, with a small area to aim for.
Suarez and Rooney's, while good obviously, don't quite measure up to that one IMO.

Anyway, on Rooney's goal this weekend, it's much more difficult to get distance and pace on the ball from the deck than it is to strike it on the bounce. The ball has bounced kindly and he's just put his foot through it; the goalie has done the rest. Beckham, Suarez ... even Figueroa's goals was better.
