I had a strong feeling they'd struggle again this season. Way too much is expected of even the best managers these days. They've simply not got enough good players and what possessed certain journos and pundits to tip them to actually win the league? What did they expect van Gaal to do with this **** squad and where is this 200 million spend everyone was banging on about. They look light years behind the big four now.

It's partly because they walked the league only a year ago, what most still haven't realised is that that was almost entirely down to the genius of Ferguson who had them punching above their weight for years and not because they have a great squad of players (which they clearly don't).

I know they've had a couple of injuries, but that team selection, shape, tactics, subs were all over the place..

I think van gaal arrogance has made him think he can do anything and it will work and the players believe it.

What I saw of Herrera he looked ****...darren fletcher is struggling Ashley young is wank, their defence is wank and mata completey lost.

They will get goals and seem to have decent attacking options that if they got it to gel would be good.....butt hey need two or three defenders and a good centre mid

Time will tell and he may well end up a success, but Van Gaal has the look of a manager whose best days have been and gone cruising into a big job by default. He's a deluxe Hodgson coasting on a reputation real rather than imagined, if you like.

He's also the first manager since 1972 to lose at Old Trafford on opening day, and I'm going to guess that he's now the only Utd manager to have spent any time, however brief, at the bottom if the Premiership table.

And Davey thought he had wrapped up all these records last season.

After all that pre season hype hahahaha. Even funnier is Swansea were absolutely horrendous aswell, it was hardly some away masterclass. Two really poor sides, an embarrassment to the league. Opening game should have some quality involved.
