He doesn't score, he doesn't assist, he's just a decent player. He's not a playmaker in the Alonso mould. if they were stupid enough to offer the cash then I'd sell in a heartbeat. You can buy what Allen does pretty easily. We just ask him to be Hendo-lite now. We need more goals and assists from midfield for what role he is asked to fill now. If he was playing that Alonso role and he was starting up all of our play, then no issues at all. But he isn't and likely won't be able to.

Worst thing you can do is over-rate and mis-evaluate your own players. At £20m, if we could't find someone more productive than Joe Allen then we should fire our entire scouting department.

£20m for Allen? Seems like a lot of money but if the market is so inflated who could we realistically bring in? Because he will need replacing and we've already changed/added so many new faces to the squad this year.

You're underrating him. And they paid £30m for a **** Joe Allen this summer so they can **** right off.

I thought the rule of thumb at the moment with united is work out his transfer value to other clubs and ouble it for united, So I reckon we could do a deal at 40million with United.
