for me Chelsea/City are the stand out sides due to depth of their squads and the ability if they wanted to just buy virtually anyone in January.

Arsenal have put themselves into one hell of a position after everyone virtually wrote them off in the Summer.....because of their start i'd say they are also dead cert for a top 4 finish...however, it's going to be interesting to see what happens, if they don't end anything in January and they have a horrendous set of fixtures Feb/March which could see them collapse.

so you'd argue that leaves one space for the top 4.

With us, Everton, United, Spurs all going for it. It's going to be an 2nd half to the season - we really need to add a little bit extra strength in depth - 18 games left, i'd say we need to win 10 games and draw 5 - achievable, and i think we will finish in a great position (74pts)

It's refreshing to see such competition for that last champs league spot. No doubts every one of the teams going for it will strengthen in the window.

Everton have an excellent starting 11 solid and hard to beat but with quality. It will be interesting to see what happens if they get a few key injuries.. which is inevitable at some season of the season (unless they are freakishly lucky).

Spurs only 2 points behind us & United actually only 5 points behind us. Still so tight and impossible to call.

i said a few weeks ago that the city and chelsea games would be our mini slump and along with Sturridge and Gerrard and new signings it should give us the momentumum to go for 4th as a minimum....fingers x

I said if we're within 3 points of our competitors on Jan 1st that we'd finish above them and win teh leage. Looks like we'll have to settle for 3rd.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

              Moyes up for manager award

Manchester United manager David Moyes is amongst the nominees for Barclays Premier League manager of the month for December.

Moyes' men have endured a poor start to 2014 - but they secured four wins and a draw in December which has seen him shortlisted.

Also in contention is Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, who had a win ratio of 71 per cent after claiming five wins from seven games, losing just once.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is also up for the honour after going unbeaten in the month, winning six of his seven games.

The final name up for the award is Everton's Roberto Martinez, who lost just once in his six games - taking his side to four wins over the festive period.

Whoever wins will be taking their first honour of the season, as the previous four winners - Brendan Rodgers, Arsene Wenger, Mauricio Pochettino and Alan Pardew - are not nominated.

Like with the manager award, the player of the month will also be a new contender as none of the previous four winners are up for nomination.

Liverpool's Luis Suarez leads the contenders, but Manchester City stars Alvaro Negredo, Vincent Kompany and Yaya Toure are also in contention.

England and Everton starlet Ross Barkley is nominated along with Arsenal's Theo Walcott, who has subsequently been ruled out for the season.

The scum influence on the FA is more than enough for him to get it. I hope he does, it will prolong his tenure a little

the thing about that stat/pic is that moyes has 18/31 with a title winning side.

Well that certainly proves how statistics don't really mean much in football.

                              Moyesey.
