A signing like this could really turn their season around. Getting Mata in and then getting Rooney & RVP back from injury. I find it incredible to think that there seems to be no other interest in a genuine world class player.

We'll all be gutted and somewhat perplexed if this signing was enough to improve them to be able to finish 4th. Some pretty tough questions would have to be asked of the Liverpool management/owners if they finished above us because we failed to bring in the necesary bodies to at least improve the squad and 1st team to some degree, especially given Lucas is out for most of the season.

I don't think Moyes will know how to get the best out of him and I also can't see how Mata, Rooney, RVP and their best player this season Januzaj fit in. All that said, I will be sick if he signs for them. Far too likeable for the Mancs and enough quality to make a significant difference between now and May.

- he hasn't signed and its still January 22nd. Wait till the end of the season before gifting them 4th!

They need Mata more than we need him. We've got Coutinho who plays in a similar role. Not worried too much if they sign him. Coutinho has the potential to be an even better player.

true they get another top quality CM along with Mata & sort out their defence.

Heavily linked with Herrera & Koke. Koke i just can't see wanting to leave Atheltico & Herrera is playing very well for Bilbao who are also having a great season. Maybe more summer options for both of those IMO. To be honest i wouldn't like any of those 3 players at United.

By looking at what happened to us .. United kinda have a blue print in what not to do. We just spent so so badly & I just can't making the same mistakes we did. IMO they will spend massively over the next few windows..especially in the summer as they will be desperate to be back up competing for title. They will realise like we did, they longer you spend outside the top 4, the harder it is to break back into it.

As regards Mata though, one of my favourite players & i'll be gutted to see him at United. Would be a big boost for the club.
