I have feeling this will be a three horse race in the future, City, Chelsea and Man United. We don't stand a cat's chance in hell of catching up, maybe a cup here or there and maybe one of us or Arsenal do a Atletico for a year or two but all in all we have three major spenders in the league now.
Although we were a major spender we just chose to throw the money away.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

A failure of near epic proportions really because with that kind of financial investment the quality of our squad is a near on disgrace.

I'm more hopeful now. I think the way we go about our business is different to those 3 clubs but, in the long run, could prove to be the most successful.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostI have feeling this will be a three horse race in the future, City, Chelsea and Man United. I was really worried after Crystal Palace game. It just seemed nothing had been changed/worked on/ pointed out in a system which was clearly failing and was not going to magically start producing. My belief hot rock bottom after that game but since then, I think Brendan Rodgers has shown that he's not completely oblivious to glaring issues and has managed to change it round while still keeping the players on side.
Sorry a bit of a tangent there but basically, I think the future is more exciting for LFC than those other clubs with young players coming through and also a manager who is constantly learning from his mistakes, fixing them and will eventually have a library of knowledge unparalleled by any manager out there.

I used to think like this but have realised this is a flawed strategy and we will forever be in this situation, waiting for the youngsters to come through whilst each existing team completes its life cycle. So I completely disagree that we have a more exciting future than our rivals.Originally posted by Maxiedge View PostI'm more hopeful now. If we invested our money properly in proven quality and actually paid wages that could enable us to sign these players, it would have a positive knock on effect with the younger players coming through.
With the £100m we spent this summer we should have spent £60-70m on 2 proven world class talents and saved the rest for their wages. That is the mentality we need but we somehow managed to go back 2 or 3 stages in our progression with signing middle range squad fillers."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." I think we have the trump card in Brendan Rodgers, I really do. I was really unsure a couple of weeks back but they way he's handled things since, I think has been top notch. When you have the right man at the top, everything else will fall into place.Originally posted by Tee View PostI used to think like this but have realised this is a flawed strategy and we will forever be in this situation, waiting for the youngsters to come through whilst each existing team completes its life cycle. Hope you are right and admire your faith because I am struggling to share it right now. He has made the decisions on our signings and spending this summer, and tbh if he was in any other business he would have been dismissed for it.Originally posted by Maxiedge View PostI think we have the trump card in Brendan Rodgers, I really do. I think if we had lost against Ludogerets and not beaten Stoke at home, he would have been sacked and I would totally understand why.
