I think those sorts of stadiums look awesome. Really old school vibe to them.

They might be **** for watching football, but it was built for a different sport.

Well yes, it was built for American Football so I'd imagine that it's not great for watching that either. The stands look way too shallow. No tiers. Just a long, long shallow bank of people. If you compare it to somewhere like the Bernebeau, Nou Camp or Wembley which are not a lot smaller by volume I suspect, that stadium is massively inferior by every measure other than capacity.

Putting it in perspective though, it's quite something for a school playing field.

I like that it's one tier, but yeah, much to shallow. If that was a steep intimidating bank, you'd not only get a much better view, it'd also be terrifying for the opposition to play in.

The flatter is is the more ground it would take up though surely? Building high uses a smaller footprint no?

In USA tho, space isn't an issue, so they wouldn't care about having a small footprint....if anything they prob prefer spreading it out as much as they can

Yeah that might apply to parts of USA, or even most of it. But in general it'd be a consideration no? I just think massive intimidating steep stands are where it's at! That stadium is huge, but meek, and lacks any character. Very American.

From pictures, I think they've dug down into the earth a bit then carried on building out onto the displaced earth to make the banked stands. So that's probably a lot cheaper than building an actual building.

It's still ugly as sin though.

I assumed it was the Pasadena stadium when I first saw it. They look similar.
