You'd have to hope Allardyce will be asked about the leaflet and will hopefully make the point that the leaflet actually backed up the point he made about them being a long ball team. That should set Van Gaal off nicely.
Can't wait for Friday's Standard paper. Allardichy has a whole page. LvG has given him plenty of time and material. Noob.
Manchester United are ‘miserable’ under Louis van Gaal says Paul Scholes.
The former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has described some of the football his old club are playing under Louis van Gaal “miserable”.
Despite Van Gaal taking United to third in the table in his first season in charge, some critics have had issues with the style of play employed by the Dutchman. Another ex-player, Gary Neville, caused a stir when he compared them to a pub side earlier this season, while Scholes also has issues.
Writing in the Independent in the wake of the midweek win over Burnley, he said: “Part of being a Manchester United player under Sir Alex Ferguson, perhaps the most important part of being one of United’s attacking players, was that when you were in possession you had to take risks in order to create goal-scoring chances. It was not an option; it was an obligation.
“In the periods of my career when I stopped passing the ball forward, or when I stopped looking for the risky pass that might open up a defence, the consequences were the same. The manager stopped picking me. I got back into the team when I went back to doing it the way he wanted.
“United’s history was built on attacking football, which does not always mean that the team kept clean sheets or did not concede chances. Why do you think United have had some of the best goalkeepers in the world over the years? They needed them because the team committed so many players forward.
“It does not give me any pleasure to say that at the moment I am struggling to watch Louis van Gaal’s team with any great enjoyment. They beat Burnley on Wednesday night but it was Burnley who had by far the best of the first half.
“At times, United’s football is miserable. To beat opposing teams you have to attack, and to attack you have to take risks. Too few of the players in the current team are prepared to take those risks.”
We certainly are capable of it tbh - defence looks the best it's done all season by some way and hopefully a fit and firing Sterling, Sturridge & Coutinho will be there to cause them some panic
Manchester United flop Anderson substituted after 36 minutes playing for Internacional and needs oxygen mask
Cue the jokes about Anderson being out of shape.
More famed for his rotund figure and lack of fitness than his abilities as a footballer while at Manchester United, Anderson's return to action with Brazilian side Internacional has not started smoothly.
Fans of United will not be surprised to hear that the midfielder lasted just 36 minutes of Tuesday's Copa Libertadores contest against Bolivian side The Strongest before being substituted - huffing and puffing his way to the touchline.
The 26-year-old was seen visibly struggling when the change was made and looked in serious discomfort as he made his way to the bench before being given help with his breathing by the physio.
Despite being Brazilian, it's clear Anderson has become too accustomed to the climate in Manchester and struggled to cope in La Paz - a place well-known for causing altitude sickness and 3,500m above sea level.
Anderson lo0oks distressed on the bench after coming off
For the record, Internacional went on to lose the match 3-1.
Anderson was seen as surplus to requirements under Louis Van Gaal, making just two appearances for United this season and was a peripheral figure under David Moyes, who loaned him out to Fiorentina.
The 26-year-old rarely proved his potential since moving from Porto in a deal worth £26 million in 2007.
He suffered a cruciate injury in 2010 and badly damaged his knee the following year. As a result Anderson was rarely back to full fitness and remained a squad player for United.
He made his debut against Cruzeiro last week, only to miss a crucial penalty after coming on as a second-half substitute.
I'm beginning to wonder if United are a better team than they look. Obviously they are incredibly boring to watch but their seemingly pointless sideways passing does seem to wear teams down and van Gaal does appear able to mix things up tactically to get results.

Preston goalkeeper Thorsten Stuckmann says Manchester United's Wayne Rooney apologised for the way he won a penalty in Monday's 3-1 FA Cup win at Deepdale.
The striker went down in the box after a challenge from Stuckmann, who appeared to make little or no contact.
"Rooney told me: 'Sorry, it was my chance to get a penalty. I had to use that'," Stuckmann told the diabolically ****ty newspaper that we never mention.
The England striker scored United's third from the spot to secure an FA Cup quarter-final tie at home to Arsenal.
The incident split opinion among the BBC pundits during Monday night's fifth-round tie at Deepdale.
Rooney was backed by his England manager Roy Hodgson and former team-mate Phil Neville, who said the 29-year-old "had to dive to get out of the way".
But former Republic of Ireland midfielder Kevin Kilbane said Rooney could have "hurdled the challenge" of the German keeper, adding: "It's still a dive. I really do think that."
Stuckmann, 33, said: "I say it clear: that was no penalty.
"I also believe if the situation had happened the other way around, one of our strikers against the United keeper, the ref wouldn't have given the penalty. I have no doubt about that."
