What makes you think that Lec? I'd agree re Mourinho not bringing young players through but he'd have a good record of developing/getting the best of players coming into their prime - especially midfielders. Essien, Lampard, Deco, Sneijder, Ozil, Matic and Khedeira are examples of players he had at the same age ish and they all flourished under him.Originally posted by Lecter View PostDont worry his trajectory will be stunted by that **** cunt of a manager he has now
Mourinho is a cunt no doubt about that but he can build winning teams even though he doesn't sustain it. He will bring the worst traits of Pogba out also which might give them a nasty edge they are also missing.

I dont think Mourinho develops anyone, he just buys or inherits good playersOriginally posted by Irishnev View PostWhat makes you think that Lec? I think Mourinho's problem is that the league has changed since he had his big success here. Theres a lot more competition for a start and even the lesser teams that he could bore to death in the past will attack teams
Theres also the expectation at United and thats not just silverware its the style of play (which Moyes & LVG have struggled with). I am not sure Mourinho is able to provide that type of football
Cant wait until Pogba is told to play the Huth roleBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

That's fair enough but I still think he can build teams that are had to beat. Agree re the style because they wouldn't accept his 'philosophy' at Madrid so United are cut from the same cloth stylistically. Their fans crave success so they may tolerate anything served up if they win.Originally posted by Lecter View PostI dont think Mourinho develops anyone, he just buys or inherits good players

Personally I think super Phil Jones will play the Huth role - get it on his head when chasing the game!!

In many ways they are like a more premium version of LFC.Originally posted by danperkins View Post
completely agree with this. We are Man United and even without Champs League we can compete with anyone. That's the message i've got over the last few seasons anyways and they have spent their asses off trying to keep up appearances. They are so desperate to remind the world of football, that are a still a relevant club.
On his day Pogba is a world beater, other times he looks like a lazy **** (Same has been said of Ibra) Forgetting the money, it's a cracking signing for them. Pogba and Ibrahimovic are hugely talented, flawed players.
Let's hope it all goes dreadfully wrong
Spend some money to look like you are competing (but well within your comfort zone), maintain your "presence" and maximise exposure in emerging football markets, increase your commercial revenues. But don't actually win anything or even bother to go head to head with your main rivals (i.e. Barca or Real for Utd, the PL top 4 for us).
Its the American sports model applied in football.

Pogba was on the market this year and most big clubs -Barca, Real, PSG, City, Chelsea and Utd all wanted him. United were prepared to do whatever it took to get him IMO - fee, salary, agent fee etc. Them signing him makes them relevant in terms of showing that they can outbid their rivals and attract him over the other clubs mentioned. The spine they have now and Jose make them a potential force on the pitch also now.
Real like to have to title of being the club with the most expensive player in the world - Bale, Ronaldo, Kaka, Zidane, Figo etc and now United have taken it from them.

it really does seem that way.

you do have to wonder why Real/Barca etc just let the scum have a free run at him. Money wise it wouldn't be a problem and I'm sure Real/Addias would be making a fair few quid off the back of Pogba. Lets see if he is worth the money/hype and can do the business for the Scum. He struggled in a disciplined defensive role for France at the Euros so not sure how he'll cope with Maureen's rigid structures.Originally posted by Irishnev View PostThey are relevant financially and as a business but they haven't been on the pitch for sometime. that might be more of a problem for them than they realise. All that way to china to get spanked by BvB and have the city game called off last min.Originally posted by foresterbloke View PostI guess we'll know more after 10 games or so. I hope they struggle to adapt and the lack of decent pre-season should see them struggle for points initially as they flounder fitness wise. Oh and Pogba gets a red card!
Well one can dream!

I just think that Real and Barca thought he was overpriced but am surprised PSG didn't try but Krychoviak is a good alternative.Originally posted by Parm View Postyou do have to wonder why Real/Barca etc just let the scum have a free run at him.
