He says they thought they were being kidnapped and got down on his knees with his hands in the air. At that stage its completely conceivable that he would've offered money not to get kidnapped so the bribery allegation seems likely.

The sister thing is odd. He says that she was drugged and that they tried to get her to hospital but not much else is said about it. Was she or wasn't she unconscious with her life in danger?

And he's been briefed not to make an apology, presumably because it's an admission of guilt

Also, how long ago did the attack happen? He's been wearing shorts in every interview and at no point has he pointed out any marks or bruising on his legs. Couldn't have been that brutal

I thought he seemed pretty genuine when talking about his younger sister and then the rest of it - he seemed to be concealing something.

It’s the booze that is the wild card in his story. They were obviously all wasted. Even the bit with his sister could be explained by copious amounts of champagne and Vodka, her eyes rolling back in her head etc. They’ve clearly all been drinking a lot then jumped to a couple of wrong conclusions.

He has to believe the story, most likely because he doesn’t recall vast parts of what went on. That bar tab is going to come back and bite him.

Some of the coverage of this by the press has been borderline racist. That said, extreme stories galore have just created popcorn time for casual observers.
