TBF to United here, when this all kicked off they refused to appoint any in house or external lawyers to assist him. told him it was for him to resolve, albeit they recommend lawyers to help him. I believe a lot in the club are and still disgusted, so it seems they are between a rock and a hard place with him.

I suggested this when discussing it with a colleague in work. It could be argued there is a public interest argument in doing all that is possible to ensure an alleged law-breaker is punished even if the victim is not supporting the case. I am fairly sure I have heard of legal cases proceeding in the past without the support of the victim.Football without Origi is nothingComment

If I knew the not guilty people in that jury I'm sure I'd want to cut them out of my life and it just shows how depressingly easy it is to convince a jury sex was consensual or didn't happen at all. He was back on the club website within about 5 mins of the statement, which seems very instructive of where they are with it all.
Agree though, anywhere else in society this is not even a topic for discussion. These cases just leave me cold each and every time. Same outcome every time.Modifying post.Comment

If he wasn't viewed as a great talent they would have no hesitation in releasing him. Shouldn't be that way though really. Will be interesting to see how long this drags on for. I suspect they will keep him but send him on loan somewhere until the dust settles.

Being a vindictive prick when it comes to this sort of thing, I would keep him on the books for the duration of his contract, pay him what he is legally due under the terms of the contract and let him train alone and not play a game once, not a senior game, not an under age game, not a training game, nothing.
And have him have to turn up at whatever the "work" times are for his training alone sessions.
Basically let his career stall and rot but not giving him a leg to stand on legally as he gets paid what he is due and he gets to train inm proper facilities. And fine the **** out of him every time he misses a solo training session or anything else the club wants him to do.
Would not release him though as he would soon find some other club willing to play him.
Just let him become that domestic violence guy who almost became a footballer.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I wouldn't be comfortable standing in a stadium supporting one of our lads if evidence existed of them doing the same.
I already have to chat to my kids about this stuff at far too young an age because they learn about it through following football. Some important conversations (consent) to be had with boys, but does feel like they aren't able to be innocent for long.
