While undoubtedly true that Blanc was worse than Stam I can't help feeling that such instances have over the long haul helped him maintain his position. As he was quoted by Keane as saying "it's all about power and control".

It is interesting to see people talk about how Fergusson is the one real exception to Guttmanns three year rule for coaches. Obviously interesting to see how Guardiola handles it but Mr Fergusson has always seemed to have a deliberate clearing of the decks (not just acquiring more players as Barca seem to have done).
