Conte revealed Chelsea "tried to buy" Walker and acknowledged that the market is currently "very difficult", adding: "I think now every single player is expensive."

Conte also said Spurs and England striker Harry Kane would be his first pick if he could sign any forward. Kane has finished as the Premier League's top goalscorer for the past two seasons.

"If I had to buy one striker I would go to Kane. He is a complete striker. He is strong physically, with the ball, without the ball, he fights and he's strong in the air and acrobatic on the right and the left.

Conte said. "For me, Kane, now, is one of the best strikers in the world.

"If I had to buy one striker I would go to Kane.

Just noticed the Plazzies completed a couple of deals after the window had shut and IIRC this isn't the first time.

What's the point of a deadline if they're allowed to ignore it?

Surely it was just the announcement that came later?

It's the same weird regulation as it has always been. You can put in a bit of paper work at 11 or so saying you have a deal agreed in principal. You then have a couple of hours after the deadline to tie it up. No idea how well it is enforced but our Sakho sale also used the same mechanism I believe.

Well as I read it, not concluded (it wasn't until 1am), but even if it was just the paperwork I don't see that should be any different. Surely a deadline is a deadline?

I thought Sakho had been done well before 11 but when it was clear we weren't signing anyone else I did zone out so maybe it was after.

Yeah not the same player this season, definitely wants out. World Class talent, Madrid will be all over that as he perfect replacement for Ronnie (well minus about 30 goals per season)

Hopefully keep them off our backs for Salah for a while at least. Would explain the Ross Barkley transfer.

                              Ross fecking Barkley.

Hazard to Barkley is some let down. Yup good to keep the big boys occupied alright.
