Also, where did he say he would be "rebuilding Ukraine"???
Who do you think the "victims of the war in Ukraine" are? And you are assuming that Roman Abramovich also agrees with you on who the "victims" are.
****in bull****The foundation will be for the benefit of all victims of the war in Ukraine. This includes providing critical funds towards the urgent and immediate needs of victims, as well as supporting the long-term work of recovery.*Except Michael, who died.

BBC gossip, but bollocks...
Irish UFC star Conor McGregor, 33, has indicated his interest in buying Chelsea after owner Roman Abramovich said he was planning to sell the club. (Twitter)
Yeah he will talk about thinking about buying things for hundreds of millions or a few billion, then go buy another pub whilst still bleating on that he chose buying a pub over the multi billion thing.
Guy loves trying to make out he a lot wealthier than he is. More than a touch of Trump to that ****stain of an individual. No surprise that Trump and Putin are two politicians he has spoken of his admiration for. Birds of a feather and all that.
He is rich by regular standards but seems to have an almost compulsive need to pretend he has the money to buy things beyond his wealth in order to make out he has a lot more than he has.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Its a bit tedious to be shouted down for having an opinion on someone doing the right thing, on the face of things.
I know he has gotten his wealth through nefarious means. I know hes been a big ally to Putin. I know all that, so lets not pretend we are all stupid enough to not know it and not be adult enough to have a conversation beyond that.
I personally dont think Billionaires should exist. I think their wealth should be taken away and redistributed amongst people for the betterment of all, not just Russian Billionaires, all of them.. But I dont feel I should preface everything I say with that.
I also agree he has sports washed his image from being a corrput Oligarch who has bribed and lied his way to his fortune. But that doesnt change the fact I also think him donating profits from the sale is a positive thing. Especially given the wording and his ties to Putin.*Except Michael, who died.

I'd say given his position, desire for self protection, desire to see Chelsea remain a going concern it is about as much as we can expect him to do.
Doesnt change the past, makes very little difference to the future. He could do more for sure, but he will want to save himself and his billions first and foremost and ensure Chelsea remain out of harms way secondary.Last edited by Buzzo; 03-03-22, 11:32 AM.Modifying post.

For 30 years he's enjoyed the luxuries of creaming off extreme wealth for himself from the fall of the Soviet Union. He isn't remotely a decent person. He has blood on his hands and not just what's going on now but you don't get to become an Oligarch without ****ing over a lot of poor people.
According to Wiki he actually put Putin's name forward to Yeltsin FFS.
He's up to his neck in this. So some hollow words about not profiting from the sale directly - is just bull****.

I’m just surprised how many people are taking the charity claim at face value.Originally posted by Alex View PostIts a bit tedious to be shouted down for having an opinion on someone doing the right thing, on the face of things.

So a theory, that I’m not claiming is true:
Sanctions have completely ****ed the Russian economy in general, but have also limited the financing options for Putin and the Kremlin. To the point where it’s an existential threat to the survival of Putin and his regime. Then a billionaire with links to Putin (ALL Russian billionaires have links to Putin, if they didn’t they wouldn’t be billionaires and would be dead or prison, as per the purge of private oligarchs in 2003) tries to liquidate a multibillion pound asset as speculation mounts about him being sanctioned. So I don’t think it’s in the realms of fantasy to worry that this sale is at the behest of Vladimir Putin, and the ‘charity’ will end up being Kremlin funds.Last edited by Kenneth; 03-03-22, 11:34 AM.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

I think it's clear he thinks sanctions are coming, it's just a case of when, so is getting his cash out now. If he is tied to Putin, tells you his view on the longevity of this thing. Worse is the thought the UK Gov could have told him to get out pre sanctions coming.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostI’m just surprised how many people are taking the charity claim at face value.

The love in Abramovich is getting is tedious. (Obviously mostly from that fan base.)Originally posted by Alex View PostIts a bit tedious to be shouted down for having an opinion on someone doing the right thing, on the face of things.

Given the circumstances of why he’s selling up and his connections, I wouldn’t be too quick to praise him for anything in relation to it yet.
And as a general point, the whole ‘just because I’m talking glowingly about him, doesn’t mean I’m overlooking the controversial stuff’ is rife in responses from Chelsea fans. It’s just a complete affirmation of sportswashing.
I get that you’re saying that you didn’t feel you needed to set your stall out on that, but I think the replies were fair and relevant to the conversation.
I hope it didn’t come across as a pile on
