So Chelsea just got a free £1.5bn to invest in making them a superclub?

Given how FFP has operated so far, yeah probably.

That's what he said. He's basically writing off the 1.5b he's invested

Aren’t they effectively now just part of the asset value of the club, so will be reflected in the sale price? Eg, buy my 10k car with 5k in the glovebox for 15k?

He writes the loans off, Chelsea still worth £1bn. He being the sole owner "pockets" the £1bn.

You could argue he's "lost" £500m - but it's all dirty money, he's just got himself £1bn 'clean' money.

How the accountants change that from a loan to an asset is I guess how they earn there money and why FFP is totally doomed. He has effectively laundered £1.5bn.

(I will offer a maximum of £5k for that car ).

Yep, basically more money laundering. It's basically what the Russians have come to England for in the first place. We've let them clean their money here for years at our expense.

It will be written off and credited back to reserves I think - it won't become an asset as such

no he is brilliant.......he's just written it off.......

Obviously, if he didn't write it off, then it would be sold with 1.0-1.5bn of debt on it.......so would make the club value 1-1.5bn less......

This is what I was trying to get at with my previous post, if Chelsea don't repay that money it is money invested by the owner so is a massive breach of FFP. As I said I don't see how it could ever be repaid, given the allowed level of investment and allowed FFP limits slowly over a number of years unless Chelsea are making massive profits seems to be the only way it could ever have happened. If the loans have been written off then that is an investment of £1.5bn by the owner or previous owner and the football authorities need to treat it as such.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
