Not sure on the percentage, but there is a limit.

Easy to disguise when CC is a portfolio of investments. If SPIF is a majority holder is any of them it could give rise to influence over CC, but extremely difficult to prove in reality.
We are here for a good time not a long time....

That rule should work on a global basis. City football group own 13 clubs its getting ridiculous.

Moving players between clubs owned by the same owners is clearly a way to get around financial rules in some of the bigger leagues, really needs a global solution to these dodgy practices.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

It's proper dodgy, but is there anything that can be done about it?

Please be aware that referring to Islamic/Arab Countries/Governments/States etc as Terrorists. No matter how much of a joke you intend is not on and wont be tolerated on this site. Its a stereotype that the vast majority do not wish to be associated with.

That's just about £700m spent since Boehly bought them 12 or 15 months ago?

We're going to find ourselves consistently finishing outside the top 4 before long. If Utd are sold, as is expected, I give it 5 years before we become a second tier club in terms of levels with the Premier League.

Do we want to be a club involved in the game of nation states play things? Or would we be more comfortable maintaining a sense of self and be outside of that?

                        I know what id choose.

Can anyone who's not a Chelsea fan name more than a couple of players they've signed in that period?

I'd genuinely struggle to name more than a handful of their starters

I think the number of Man Utd fans I've seen online and in real life who said similar about state nations, only to suddenly change their minds with the Qataris flashing their crown jewels in their faces, should also be a warning in terms of how our fanbase may react.

Unless the Saudis and Qataris literally want to wreck the sport by buying up several big clubs using dodgy means (Newcastle and Chelsea for Saudis, and PSG and Man Utd for Qataris), there aren't actually many nation states left who could invest in the sport.

                              Kuwait? Dubai? Singapore? China?

Apart from China, I can't see the others being willing to chuck a shed load at football. The main threats to football have already bought into it (Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, Qatar), and are threatening to make it a dick swinging competition between states.

If the FSG and GIC thing came to fruition this summer, I'm not sure that'd mean we'd be like the other clubs involved with state nations, especially with FSG as majority owners, and GIC as minority investors.. Probably for the FSG thread to discuss.

Just thinking aloud here, and I'm open to changing my mind completely.

I'd like the state funded clubs to **** off and start their own league
