Absolute cheeky *******s. Chelsea cheapest sub will cost more than their entire team

    Comment

Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson has responded furiously to Chelsea’s request to play their FA Cup quarter-final at the Riverside Stadium behind closed doors.

"Chelsea & sporting integrity do not belong in the same sentence."

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Imagine the FA buckle and they get to the semi final - does that mean an empty Wembley?

So this is probably unpopular. But if they get to Wembley and dont get to have their fans in the ground its really sad.

The fans are just fans of the club, a lot of them would have been there before Roman, or supporting it as a result of proximity or family. If this was us it would be devastating.

Fans being punished for supporting a club is the worst, and while rivalry is one thing. Id hate it if the shoe was on the other foot. We have zero control who owns us. The Government allowing Chelsea to raffle off the tickets to local charities and good causes would be probably a better way than stopping the fans.

Not to tar everyone with the same brush, but the Chelsea fans that travel to Anfield are scum. I always enjoy being close to the away fans, there is usually a bit of banter, but from my experience, most of them Chelsea fans are just there to cause trouble, rather than support their team. So I've no sympathy for them.

Hmmmm - if they were a humble bunch I’d feel sorry for them. They’ve had 19 years of success paid for by blood money. Their spending drove the price of players up and their academy poached players from all over London. Their fans were waving 20 pound notes at other teams to flaunt their wealth

I know it’s not their fault but they milked it and not one player, fan, manager ever questioned the morality of taking Roman’s I’ll gotten money

**** Em - I hope they go bankrupt and back to the mediocre club they were pre Abramovich……. They were going into administration when he bought them

But that literally is tarring everyone with the same brush. Mate of mine supports Chelsea and has done since ive known him as a kid and he hates a lot of them. The reputation 1% of fans give all Chelsea fans is pretty damaging.

Hes gutted though, goes to 2-3 games a season through general sale, cant get a ticket now.

Yeah I don’t get why they can’t allow free allocations. The point is financial sanctions.

But since Chelsea’s response is to try and drag opposition fans into this, and call it ‘integrity’, it’s hard to have sympathy.

Bet your mate loved the 2 European Cups and countless league and FA cups that Roman's billions bought Chelsea.

It's only a short term thing though. They have been plucked from relative obscurity, been given unlimited wealth, won every trophy multiple times over a 20 year period, so it's a bit of a small price to pay.

Ask 99.9% of other supporters would they swap positions with Chelsea and see if they have sympathy because fans can't make a couple of matches.

Barely a football fan out there wouldn't take a few months sabbatical in exchange for that sort of success.

Its not his fault he supports Chelsea. Its a bit rich from an outside POV to say that IMO.

They finished 4th the season before they got brought. Its not the same as City.

Im just saying, normal working people are being punished for the sins of a Billionaire Oligarch. There has to be a way to do it to punish him and not the fans.

                                Totally agree.

However when they finally find out that it's been funded by corruption then they can't really start bleating about the consequence.
