It's stuff like this that gives no confidence that the PL will punish City adequately if they are found guilty.

IMO if the success you have had (be that trophies or sustained PL status, prize money or whatever) are worth the punishment then the punishment wasn't harsh enough as it wouldn't discourage others from doing the same

The PL certainly have a record of taking things more seriously than UEFA when it comes to punishment.

I find Chelsea's strategy an interesting one, the players that they are buying are young and often signed to long contracts. The approach of buying young players loaning them out and either them developing into top class players for you or players that you can sell at a profit seems to be a good one if you can do the deals at the right price.

For me though alot of the signings they have made have been quite expensive when they have bought them and if they only do well on loan at (no disrespect) lower profile clubs and never establish themselves at Chelsea I don't see how they turn a profit on them.

Of course there is also the PSR angle on this where if you buy a player for £30m, sign him to a 7 year contract, his value is still amortized over 5 years, but after 2 years he is worth £18m if you can sell him for more than that you book a profit, and the way the market and football inflation is going there is a decent chance you might not lose much on him even if he is something of a flop.

It's a good point, and from a business and profitability point of view it's a really good model.

You have to wonder though what they can win with an average turnover of 10 players per season.

It depends on how many of those are actually at Chelsea, I suspect many of them will be loaned out to either partner clubs under their multi-club model or just regular loans if the turn over of players is mostly those players it probably doesn't affect squad morale that much. But it might have an impact on players going there in future if there is no really intention of transitioning them to the Chelsea first team and/or they never actually play for Chelsea. Similarly probably pisses off the academy players (Rio already left them to join us...)

It seems like a ****in crazy strategy to be honest. It's not like they are signing loads of young promising players for really cheap......they seem to spending a wedge.

What is a bit strange imo is the players that don't make an impact but Chelsea still seem to be able to get good money back. For Dewsbury Hall they almost got their money back. For Nicolas Jackson they will probably make 20m plus profit. I suppose the scattergun approach will win some and lose some. For every Cole Palmer there will be a Mudryk.

You can’t keep a squad of that size happy. It’s a mental strategy.

Still buying players & yet the manager asked the hierarchy to cut down on the size of squad before the summer...Will Chelsea have a fire sale in the last week of this transfer window?

It's weird though that they can still sell these players at profit, Jackson will be a big profit, Dewsbury Hall, and the two to Burnley as well, that fourth choice keeper went for 25 million or something too. Madueke doubled in price, I just don't get it.

If they are fairly young players they will likely increase their value as they get experience (be that at Chelsea or elsewhere) add to that football inflation figures and I'm not surprised they are making money

Colwill out with a ruptured ACL - wonder if they will go back in the market or use one of their 56 other CBs

                              Probably sign Guehi.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Was thinking that myself...we would be sorry as they don't wait around, straight in there as needs must so just down to preference on the player's part then.
