They should go for Pardew. He has put together a team rather than a collection of individuals. England has always had the problem of accommodating names at the expense of creating a collective. I would sweep away all the old guard and start over, including Gerrard.

What other situation, club or Country would a player ever do that. They need to keep quiet. What if the FA choose a foreign manager. Will what Rio said about not getting ideas across be ignored by the new guy? Doubt it.

I'm not a huge England fan but I do want England to succeed and I consider that Capello was a complete disaster from start to finish.

Lets not forget that Capello was the man that caused this situation with the captaincy in the first place by ****ing about with the armband and managing to piss off Terry, Rio and Gerrard before giving it back to a guy that had alienated half the team by shagging his team mates partner. Then there was his utterly ****ing retarded idea to try to coin in on the world cup by creating a website with his mate to rate players performance in the tournament, shame he didn't do a managers index, I wonder where he would rate 2 draws against **** teams and a hammering from Germany. He even had the audacity to suggest that we played well in the World Cup.

I don't doubt that Capello was a great manager and I'm sure he still has that in him but this was never anything more than a pay cheque. For such a cultured man, he didn't bother learning the language in over 4 years, his player choices were dreadful and he completely went against his big talk of bringing through the next generation bar fielding fairly established players when a senior was out injured. He also continued with dreadful tactics and playing our better players out of position (Gerrard on the left).

To claim that England are just not good enough anyway is bull****. If you look player for player through the squads of Europe's International teams there is only Spain that I would consider better. Italy are ****, France are rebuilding and Germany have a lot of players with potential but man for man I do not believe they have better players. Even if you argue that Germany are better that still puts England in the third spot so on the basis that the players are capable then the problem here in lies with the manager.

I know it's popular to hate on England, the manager and anyone stupid enough to bother supporting their team because we are all just xenophobic flag waving jingoistic nationalists but I do give a ****. I couldn't care less about Spain or Brazil winning a major tournament.

Harry Redknapp I believe would be an excellent choice. Firstly because it will appease both the media and the players and secondly because he gets players playing to their ability and knows when to give the hug or the bollocking. Although perhaps not tactically a mastermind he is managing a team in the top 4 in the league who have impressed recently both domestically and in European competition. England players are a special breed of moron and I think you need someone who can work on that level.

None of this is directed at anyone in particular

No brainer for me, Hiddink in, spends every waking hour from now till euros preparing and planning, then Arry can take over after the Euros and lead them to the world cup.

Don't agree with a caretaker and then Arry coming straight in for the tournament, and that's what will need to happen because imo he isn't leaving Spurs right now.

I'm sure the fa know what there doing though.

I cannot belive the level of Venom for overseas managers. Tony Cottee is an idiot for saying that. Unless there is a ruling stating that National managers should be from the country they manage, I don't see the problem. its all about the best man for the job.

I don't think a ruling is necessary if you think it's the right thing.

Sounds like Pearce might be an interim manager!

Apparently Arry has completely ruled himself out of the running - now and forever. He said that with all the pressure the press place on the job by hyping expectations he thinks it will be too taxing.

I'd say that Spain, Holland and Germany are all much better teams at present in Europe (along with Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay in South America) and Portugal and France are both on a similar level. England lacks a true holding midfielder, and those teams are all technically better and have far better squad depth, better youth development and have much more balance to their teams.
Capello's record with England is good, but the expectations on the team are a long way from the teams quality.
