Already, Celtic are 10th in the Top 20 Matchday revenue league GLOBALLY according to the 2011 Deloitte Report at £43.4m, vs. c. £20m for Newcastle (Newcie # sourced on net admittedly). Throw in PL money and increased interested from the global Irish diaspora, and they'd dwarf Newcastle.Originally posted by dom9 View PostNo guarantee of any sort of success as we know.
I don't think that they would compete beyond the likes of Newcastle financially. Big stadium yes. I'd be surprised if they had much in the way of overseas presence for additional marketing / sponsorship income though.
Who knows.Substance > Style

Rangers Football Club has entered administration - meaning the club will be docked an immediate 10 points in the Scottish Premier League.
It follows a unsuccessful legal bid by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) at the Court of Session in Edinburgh to appoint its own administrator.
London-based firm Duff and Phelps was officially appointed at 14:50.
It will now take over the day-to-day running of Rangers while addressing the club's massive debt problems.Last edited by Bender; 14-02-12, 04:08 PM.

Newcastle don't beefit from Euro particiapation either and think you only get about £6m-£10m max for the group stage of the CL anyway so would doubt these lost Celtic CL revenues (and they don't qualify for CL groups every year) wouldn't be offset elsewhere.Originally posted by dom9 View PostThey would lose the European money though.
No chance they are qualifying for Europe in England.Substance > Style

If they want to play in the english league they should have to qualify by playing non league football first to get into the leagues and then get promoted though the lower leagues to the PL.Originally posted by Daniel 7 View PostMove them to Dublin and let them compete in the english leagues. It'd be ****ing massive. I'd really want them to fail and for it to all go wrong, but the money involved in moving the "franchise" would be huge.

Agreed, but they are still shouting otherwise in the press todayOriginally posted by rcasemore View Post
whatever Celtic may say in the press, they need Rangers as without them the money will dry up quickly - a 1 team league romping it season in season out will see tv revenues suffer and match going fans decrease.
Sad state of affairs with Scottish footballFootball without Origi is nothing

Just what you need when the club has tax 'issues'
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17072133Milan Mandaric interested in buying crisis-hit club Rangers
Former Portsmouth and current Sheffield Wednesday chairman Milan Mandaric is interested in buying Rangers.
The administrators revealed on Thursday they had already heard from parties interested in the crisis-hit club.
And BBC Scotland has learned the Serbian - last week cleared of two counts of tax evasion - is one of those to have contacted Duff and Phelps.
Mandaric, who has also been in charge at Leicester, took over at Hillsborough 11 months ago .
