We may have to wait a while, but based on the Big Tax case, I feel the punishment they deserve to receive has to be more than liquidation.
They have been cheating for the best part of 20 years, the arrogance shown by some of the Rangers as a club and some of the support is staggering, they have been caught out. Let them begin life in the 3rd division.
Sort of agree in principle, but then why should all the other SPL teams suffer from Rangers demise?

    its a tough call.

Bloody cheats. They've been hoovering up players who did well against them for 25 years, using money they didn't have to out muscle and overpay players they couldn't afford.

Aberdeen were runners up in everything for 5 or 6 seasons on the trot and their financial mess was directly related to trying to keep up financially with the Old Firm when they were still competitive, whilst trying to stop Rangers and Celtic picking off all their decent young players 5 games into their careers.

Aberdeen could have had another 5 or 6 league titles if it hadn't been for them cheating. How were they supposed to beat a team that had Laudrup, van Bronckhorst, Gascoigne, Negri, Gattuso and Lorenzo Amoruso ()?

They should be forced to play in Northern Ireland.

        Ideally, yes.
        .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

**** Rangers they should have all their trophies stripped ad left to burn. Unlike our debt a few years ago rangers knew they were cheating and using money they did not have. Our debt was forced o us by the two cunts and was in no way the fault of the club.

Rangers should be made an example of and left to burn. The arrogence of their fans is unbelievable.

On a plus side there is more than one team in Glasgow so i guess they will have to go support Celtic. If i had a rangers fan as a mate i would buy him a celtic shirt for a laugh.

I assume that you are talking about the revenue that they (Rangers) create, they should be treated no differently from any other club in the same position, taking the position that Rangers should get a lesser punishment because other clubs will suffer if they get the punishment they deserve, sets a dangerous precident.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I personally don't think the rest of the SPL will vote in favour of Rangers being allowed straight back in to the SPL. It is a big assumption to make that they will. The biggest worry for the rest will be the lack of TV interest/money.

The money would be the reason wouldn't it?

Without the old firm games the TV deal will be **** all and could put some of the others in trouble?

Rangers are far too arrogant about their position. The thing they forget is, both the fans and the club themselves, is that most of the clubs in the Premier League have been relegated to the First Division over the years and have come back up and survived. That means they have had to survive without both Old Firm clubs' revenues - Rangers aren't indispensable. They're just another club.

When is the SPL TV deal due to be renegotiated? As I guess that could have an influence on how the teams vote.

Totally. It is the assumption that will be their undoing.

It has been mooted by Thompson at Dundee Utd. and others will follow.

It would seem Aberdonians also want Rangers to receive full and proper punishment.

Plus you have the added incentive of a different club getting a champions league spot, and theoretically more European places to go around as one of the guaranteed teams has gone.

Personally I think they will be shifted down the leagues. They deserve it really.

                                @Buzzo

Fair enough, but this kind of schadenfreude is a bit distasteful. Everyone north of the border knows how much Aberdeen hate Rangers, and it just seems a bit **** that the only way Aberdeen can get one over Rangers nowadays is by spitefully refusing them re-entry. I'm not saying I disagree with not letting them come back in as newco, I just disagree with the obviousness of the motives of a (massive) section of Aberdeen fans.
