Not the best kept secret ever, it hardly seems worth having the meeting. It will be interesting now to see if they will go into the 1st div, or as is looking increasingly likely the third!Modifying post.

Scare stories are being put about that predict virtual Armageddon for Scottish football if Rangers end up in the third division.Originally posted by Buzzo View Post

Judging by the standard of the SPL, the lower tiers must be pretty abominable, so I think they'd be promoted back to the SPL next season if they ended up in SFL1. Obviously the killer would be if they ended up in SFL3 as it would be a minimum of 3 years before they were back in the SPL.Originally posted by Lee View PostSo Rangers / NewCo will end up in the SPL1 or SPL3 with a 45k stadium and no players of note.
It's going to be a long old battle getting back to anywhere near where they were.

Possibly, I see what you mean. Scottish football is terrible.Originally posted by BootRoom View PostJudging by the standard of the SPL, the lower tiers must be pretty abominable, so I think they'd be promoted back to the SPL next season if they ended up in SFL1. But if they're left with a squad of 20 kids next season (which is likely) then I think they'll struggle massively, regardless of what league they end up in.

It's NewCo. Glasgow Rangers (IA) are soon to be in liquidation. They're no longer part of the Scottish footballing fraternity.Originally posted by Lee View PostSo Rangers / NewCo will end up in the SPL1 or SPL3 with a 45k stadium and no players of note.

The current name for the NewCo is Triggers Broom FC. As the Larkhall Loyal seem to have no qualms in proclaiming them to be a continuation of Rangers FC despite the fact they're a totally new footballing entity.
The fact that there was even a vote to admit a new club directly into the SPL is shameful. Following the rules of the game they should be made to apply to the bottom teir of the SFL and only be admitted when they meet the leagues criteria which includes having at least 3 years of audited accounts.

There's also the strong possibility that every ****er and his dog will be desperate to beat them, so the grind of every game being a 'cup final' could wear them down if they are young and inexperienced.Originally posted by Lee View PostPossibly, I see what you mean. Scottish football is terrible.

Having said that, I expect the owner to put a bit of cash in to get them back into the SPL pronto, and I'd expect that cash to attract a sufficient number of players of higher calibre than SFL1. I've got no idea what he'd do if they end up in SFL3, though.

NewCo will take over Ibrox though yeah? And it'll then become two entirely different clubs like Wimbledon and MK Dons?
