That could well be a slow lingering end to Scottish football. Now just one team to win things, less tv revenue a big loss for them i thinks.
It's a prediction thread on a wish list.

Yup. Scotch football is ****ed now. Even more ****ed than it was previously.

Might as well close it all down.

Or a chance for some other teams to grow - it's going to take three or four years for Rangers to get back to the SPL - by then other teams will be stronger and the league more competitive making it more watchable.

Or like you said it could all go to hell

I feel sorry for the fans as none of this is their fault, as you say they've been on the wrong side of some dodgy owners.

I think alot of people are happy that having been closed down and re-opened as a new club they start at the bottom like anyone else would have to, and they haven't been getting the preferencial treatment many thought they would get. (Most other clubs it wouldn't even have gone to a vote as to whether they started back in the SPL)
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

            l
the only club that is likely to lose out of this is celtic. They'll be stifled by the lack of competition and fall even further back in European terms. All other clubs are likely to enjoy a more competitive league in terms of chasing uefa cup places etc. Ultimately Scottish football was faced with trying to maintain it's sporting integrity and they made the right decision. From what I've heard the majority of Scottish football fans are right behind this decision

Don't really see it being a laughing matter myself. We've been on the wrong end of some ****ed up owners ourselves. Think we should show a little more class here really.
Maybe mate, however if you lived up here you may feel different It is sad that a club with such rich pedigree is no more. However the level to which they flaunted the rules and the arrogance with how Rangers have acted as a club since getting caught cheating the Tax man is staggering.

Remember, everything they have achieved over the last 10 + years they have done by attracting players to the club by offering illegal financial packages. Making a mockery of the sport and the league, their own fans and fans of other clubs. All the while flaunting an arrogance and subsequent lack of regret or acknowledgement to the rules they have flaunted and the I'll gotten gains they have achieved.

I feel sorry for their decent supporters, but to my experience they are few in number. Rules exist for a reason and to be honest if this had been any club other than Rangers they would have received their punishment long ago. For the SPL to handle this in the manner they have has been a disgrace.

I have family who are Rangers fans and they're absolutely gutted about this.

Every fan base has its dickheads mate. Including ours. And sadly that type of fan tends to draw more attention than the thoroughly 'normal' type. I feel for the vast majority of decent fans who have just seen their football club destroyed.

                  Sad day for football.

Spent a fair bit of time up in Glasgow mate - half my family are from Easterhouse. What the people in charge have done has been dreadful, and they deserve everything that have coming to them. I agree with you regarding feeling sorry for the 'decent' fans of the club. Just so happens that all the Rangers fans I know are cool, so that will obviously affect my opinion.

I think a lot of their fans are showing a bit of a siege mentality. Not disimilar to what a lot of our fans did with the whole Suarez / Evra thing. We took a battering from pretty much every other clubs fans over that. It feels different when its your club I guess.

Anyway, love or hate Rangers, I just can't help but think that this could have happened to us. It's ****ing sickening that a football club can be destroyed by a few peoples greed. A club that has been around for not far off 150 years! Supported by tens of thousands of people. It's absolutely disgraceful. And I just found it really distastful to come on here and see people laughing about it. That's just my feelings on the subject mate

Fair enough And I'm sure your family are good/decent Rangers supporters . I feel for them, but they enjoyed a level of triumph most clubs will never achieve. And they achieved it at the cost of the integrity of the Scottish game.

I dont disagree that it's a sad day for football. But any punishment other than the one received would have been farcical. Put it this way imagine the same were found of say, Man Utd. We would have lost the league a few years ago to a team who were cheating.

I spent £400 odd on a Hearts season ticket about 4 years ago, and saw Hearts dismantled by a Rangers team featuring a level of player that Hearts could only dream off. At half time Hearts brought on the clubs top scorer to say his farewells as he was off to, you've guessed it Rangers. Andreas Velicka, a great goalscorer for Hearts who barely kicked a ball for Rangers. Hearts are in the **** financially also, and sold Lee Wallace to Rangers last season for £800k, which they will now not receive. Rangers sold Jelavick to Everton for £5m but still owe Rapid Vienna the best part of £4m. It makes the whole thing seem a farce, so unfortunately they deserve their punishment.

And the votes returned against them were also fairly unanimous, meaning the rest of Scottish Football agrees.

An utter disgrace, and a living hell for fans that love their club.

The Scottish Football Association will consider what, if any, punishments to impose on Rangers before granting membership to the new company.

ridiculous this has in turn ruined Scottish football for good

Seems a bit melodramatic. Things will have to change but it's not as if Scottish football is going through a golden period. It will be hard but in a few years the game could be a lot stronger.

You have to have some form of integrity and sustainability and rules that mean something or the game is really ****ed. This at least demonstrates that the clubs in Scotland understand that even if it does bring short term economic probelms for them too.
